I just picked up my 2015 brm Off Road on Friday. I've been lurking here for the better part of a year and was finally able to pull the trigger. I grew tired of maintaining my S4 and wanted to get into something that should be a good bit less hassle. It will be weird to shop parts for lifts and offroading after looking to go low and fast for the last 10 years, but the truck just fits what I do these days. I love to fly fish, snowboard and just generally getting in to the mountains to explore. The S4 could get to the ski resorts but not much else. Enough of all that, I'm excited to be here, already have a wish list at TRDshop.com haha

Howdy! Part of the reason I wanted the Taco was due to the fact we travel down there a couple times a year. Friends of ours own a great cabin on Cinnamon Pass above Lake City. The S4 couldn't even make it down the driveway there so we always ended up taking the Subaru. It'll be awesome to have a proper 4x4 next time we're there.

Is it the one by the tree farm? If so we are usually camped nearby. Lots of fun to be had in the San Juan's, the wife and I usually try to go wheeling 1-2 times a month. We love doing the Alpine Loop and are always up for more company.

Not sure where the tree farm is but the cabin is next to the Castle Lakes campground/cabins. They actually rent it out during the peak season, known as the Old Carson Cabin. It's a great property. This is a photo I took Labor Day Weekend 2012 I believe, we usually go there once in the Winter and either Summer or early Fall each year. Our last visit was for New Years. We tried to break the trail to Carson ghost town but snow was waaay too deep for the 3 of us to make it.

I was thinking more up the Pass, its about 10500'. Great views of Sunshine Peak. This was 8/13/14 last year. The next photo was the day after.

Nice! It's hard to take a bad photo up there. It's probably my favorite place in the state. We are thinking of hiking Sunshine next time we're there, but it's more likely we will just drink beers and fish all day instead. I caught my best fish of the year on the Lake Fork where it runs through their property last year.

25" and all of 8 lbs. Was a good day

As good as that B5 S4 Avant looks, the truck looks better!
Welcome to TW and prepare to open your wallet!

Nice S4, any mods? My friend used to have a 2002 and did the full K04 upgrade. That was one of the fastest cars I've ever driven.

Nice looking fish! We usually have ambitions of hiking also but it usually turns into drinking, fishing, shooting, and swimming.

Looked at the cabin for a rental and way out of my price range, I'll stick to my camping!

Coming from the S4 I'm all too familiar with the open wallet.

Mods on the S4 were, chip, intake, exhaust with gutted pre-cats, Samco boost hoses, Forge Bypass valves, aluminum skid plate, coilovers, 18" wheels (OEM from an A8) and snow tires on the stock wheels and spacers. All that plus a pile of deferred maintenance from the previous owner (yay!). They also had a shit RS4 replica bumper on there that I replaced with the stock one, hardly a mod but needed to be done. Sadly, I settled on a tiptronic auto trans because I wanted the avant body style. If I had the 6spd mine would have been built like your buddy's, the auto just can't handle that power with out a ridiculous rebuild. They are great cars when they work right but when they break, they break you. I just couldn't risk getting stranded with my 3mo old daughter with me so I chose to move on.

ya it isn't cheap. They used to run it as a B&B but it became too much for my buddy's MIL so now they just rent the whole place and she only has to clean up once a week or so rather than all day every day. There are 7 or 8 bedrooms all with a private bath so if you want to stay best bet is to have a good sized crew to split it with.
