Mine vibrates around 20-25 mph, but not 100% of the time. It's not "un-bearable", but it's bad enough to annoy me. I can reduce it by "easing up on the gas" for a few seconds, but I definitely prefer that it didn't do it at all. :(

Its probably not even noticable to anyone other than me. It feels like a minor pulse. Alsmost as if the tires were slipping traction.

ok...so i just got done lifting the Tacoma with Icon 2.5 coilovers up front and Icon 2.0 with res. out back and Dakar springs. i did install a carrier drop. the Icons are set at Factory setting which is 2.5". before install i had zero vibrations or shutters with the factory suspension.

i notice now i have the take off shutter, but get no vibrations at higher speeds. ive had it up to about 65-70 and its pretty smooth but id like to address the low speed shutter. whats my next step here...axle shims i assume? wat i would hate to happen would be addressing one issue and creating another....i rather deal with a low speed shutter than a high speed shake...so what would everyone recommend?

Your in the same boat as me. Just the take off shutter (although I have a little vibe coming from the front diff also - but that's another story). Anyway 3 years later I still have it but its very minor and it hasn't gotten any worse. I think I have a 1/4" CB shim and it is the least noticeable like that. So I've just been living with it because its smooth at speed. Someone posted a little while back that a 2deg axel shim fixed it for him. Others have said a more rigid CB also fixed it or some have installed a one piece DS to cure it but to me that's not worth all the trouble to fix a minor take off shutter. Try the 2deg shim and let me know how it goes. That is my next move if I do any work in the rear again. I tried dropping the CB at different levels and it just got worse as I dropped it more! Good Luck!

Pretty much the same experience here after my Dakar install. Ended up taking out the 3rd leaf in my Dakar pack to eliminate the raked stance and my take off vibe is almost gone. I still have a slight driveline hum around 40-45MPH though.

I'm currently dealing with very minor take-off vibes, however I want to get rid of all vibes. I'm running a 3" ToyTec kit (2.5" coils + 0.5" top-plate, 2.0" AAL) and BFG AT KO2 265/75/16. I have installed the OME CB drop kit, they may have helped a little, the take-off vibe is still there though.

I just received a ToyTec 3deg rear axle shim kit, and have been thinking about putting it on this weekend. Is there a risk that I can do more harm than good? I do not want to create any additional vibes.

Also, please note my 2015 TRD Off Road has FACTORY rear axle shims (see page 18 of this thread for pics), and they came pointing in the direction disadvantageous to diff-input angle (narrow end pointed towards REAR). I'm not sure what degree they are, but this will be a big change in diff-input angle, as I'll be going from some degree one way, to 3deg the other way. Any input?

maybe try turning turning the factory shims 180 degrees?? If it feels worse then its relatively quick to change it back. let us know if the shims help

I thought about trying that as well, but I really only want to drop the axle once if I can help it.

I bought the recommended digital angle gauge, so maybe I can figure out all the numbers before taking anything loose.

    You gotta measure angles first.

No vibes here, but bumpily for those that do. I believe the problem seems to inherently affect the pre runner 2WD models if it hasn't been mentioned already because the 4X4's have the T-case to act as the median, which lessens the severity of the chance of bad angles. I could be wrong here though. I haven't done much digging into it because I never had the issue to begin with.

if anything the tcase makes things worse by lengthening the engine/trans/tcase that shortens the first part of the driveshaft making for taller angles at the output u joint.

The real problem of the vibes is all centered around the REALLY weak rubber surrounding the center carrier bearing.

I have 5100 all around with 2.5' in the front with the rear diff dropped. Before and after the diff drop I had/have the vibration on take off. Its whatever now, now that I have lifted the front Toyota is uselss. Pretty funny to considering its CPO used haha.

Just for fun I'll throw this out there, my take off vibes are basically non-existent on cool mornings!

This morning was 65deg F, little to no vibes. Versus in the afternoons its usually around 100deg F, and I have annoying vibes.

I may be over analyzing this but I think this issue is so sensitive even a relatively small change in temperature affects the stiffness of the CB bushing enough to create an issue.

Anybody else notice a similar trend?

Yup. This is why when i get time the CB rubber is going to get filled with some good quality silicone of some sort to stiffen it up.... cus when its warm out its like a floppy dick.

Looking foreword to seeing how that works, I'd like to try something similar. Mine only has vibes from around 5-12 mph and I've always wanted to try something more to fix/ minimize it.

Also, anyone else with the axle shims from Toytec: Does it seem like orienting the skinny part towards the front of the truck is backwards to anyone else? Its how Toytec says to install them but in my head I keep thinking they should face the other way.

The way you orient the shims all depends on how you want your angles setup and the rest of your driveline / your lift. etc etc. FYI the TSB for driveline vibration fix which included new leafsprings from toyota tilted the pinion down via shims with the fat end facing forward.

Gotcha, I must have been thinking about this backwards. Also, to what years/ models does the TSB you are referring to apply? with an aal in the back would Toyota even touch it?
