Hey TW peeps... I have an 06 TRD sport access cab, 65500 miles. New general grabber tires, iPod interface, soft tonneau, satoshi and OEM grilles, weathertech mats and mud guards, chrome rear bumper, debadged, remote start. Above average condition, nice, clean interior. No smoke, no pets inside, never been offroad, clean Carfax, second owner, two oem and two starter remotes, two keys.

I'm looking to get into a double cab with a kiddo on the way. The dealers I've spoken to... Let's just say the trade in value has been embarrassing to say the least. I'm not looking for a million bucks, but my truck is nice.

What would you ask private sale?
What would you look for on trade?
Is there anyone interested in buying it?

There are a billion guides and they all say different numbers. In my area, I see tacos with over 100k and they're not even TRD's and they go for $16-20k private and dealer sales.

Any help would be appreciated. Here's a pic, but the rails are long gone from the sides.

Thanks all. I appreciate your feedback. Take care,
    Dave

When i've sold vehicles, i always look around on craigslist at what other vehicles that are similar to mine are selling for. Also, while Kelly Blue Book isn't the greatest, it does give you a somewhat close idea. If it gives you any help, i sold my old 2005 dclb with 130k for $15k back in the summer of 2012. I would think if you sold it outright, you could sell it for around $16-17k if you're patient, maybe more. It all depends on the market in your area of the country though. I've seen prices just be freakin outrageous in the N.E. and N.W.

I'm not sure you'd get that much for the access cab. I can't see being able to sell it, no matter how many miles, or how good of condition, for 17k or so.

If you lived in HI, you'd get easy $20k plus for your truck. The amount of money people ask for tacos here, in that case any Toyota truck, is ridiculous! Check out HI craigslist and you'll see what I'm saying... However, sorry for rambling and even if I'm thread jacking but GLWS!

you can get wholesale price anytime from webuyanycar.com. kelly blue book is fantasyland for the most part. My guess is $15,000-16,000.

They quote wholesale price as $14,155. So many guides, so many different numbers. Who the hell knows what to ask for?

Smoke headlights, improved LED tail lights...Pending: De-chrome badges and grille, new tires
The dealer would make a boatload off of you if you took that deal. I wouldn't trade it in out of spite at this point. That is a sharp truck and low miles. You should get $13K easy. I would start at $14K and see what happens.

I found that Toyota truck prices vary greatly geographically. I live in the Pacific NW, and I found that Tacomas sometimes went for 1-2 grand more than in, say the east coast, or even canada. I even began factoring in airfare into my purchase price. In the end I bought my 06 TRD Sport AC 6spd in Tacoma, WA with 100k miles for $15k, private party in great condition apart from a paint flaw and a dent in the tailgate. I think I got a great deal, as I had been searching for a couple months.

With those miles, I'd say you could definitely get $17k private party (Im my area, at least).

Two years ago I bought a 05 (equivalent now to a 07) TRD OR AC V6 Auto with 76k for $14,500. Very similar condition to yours. Seller was asking $16,500, and been trying to sell it for several months with no success. Lots of lookers, but no one with cash, or else they wanted to trade another vehicle. In my area (NorCal) I'd say you could ask 17 and expect 15-16 if you're willing to wait for the right buyer. Local dealers are asking 18-20.
