    Hello,

I recently purchased a 2008 PreRunner with a four cylinder and a five speed transmission. I'd like to put in a new suspension with OEM shocks and struts like those being sold here:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/2nd...rpet-mats.html

    or here:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/2nd...-miles-ak.html

and I was wondering if these parts should fit my truck without any modifications. I'm also thinking about painting the wheels black and I will be getting new tires so it seemed like it might be a good idea to get the suspension done first since it will need an alignment after the new tires anyway. I saw a good tutorial on YouTube about how to replace the shocks without a spring compressor. Thank you in advance for your advice. Have a good day.

    Anthony

I'm getting "page not found" for both links?

Welcome! Like Rich mentioned, bad linky's.
Anyway my advice would be to rent or find a spring compressor when you decide on the proper lift.

I would recommend the Bilstein 5100's over an OME shock set-up. Reuses stock coil springs. No modifications for install. Like Idaholandho said, you will need a spring compressor but nothing too bad.

Sorry about the links. I was looking at a couple posts in the classifieds where people were selling TRD struts and springs with less than 5000 miles. For one it was all four struts and front springs for $280 obo. How much would a set of 5100's with front springs cost? Thanks for getting back to me. Have a good one.

Oh yeah and my neighbor has a rock crawler Jeep that's also his daily driver that he's working on all the time. I was thinking of asking him if he'd like to help me install the suspension in trade for a spare electric guitar I have that I don't need and lunch with maybe a guitar lesson or two.

    ...too much shit to list.
Not true. 5100's do not mean you have to lift.
The clip is adjustable if you want to preload the spring (add lift). If you put the clip on the bottom setting, it's zero lift.

Thank you for the clarification. I don't really want a lift. My truck is going to be on the road most of the time and I'm going to just be putting on some 265/70/r16's. Maybe some dirt roads on trips to the high desert a couple times a year. If I got height adjustable suspension the most I'd go up is an inch and a half. I just want to replace the suspension before I get new tires and the necessary alignment with something a little more substantial. Does $250 shipped for a complete set of TRD OEM struts (front and rear) and front springs take offs sound like a good deal? They have 2k miles on them and look to be in good condition - I found them in the classifieds here. Also, I'm a college student so funds are limited. Thank you!

Here's another attempt at putting a link:

I also found these for $300 which look brand new and come with the top hats it looks like.
