I got two g's to burn for parts on my all stock (except tires) tacoma. what would you buy first for the truck? I'm not a desert rat by any means and this is a dd. I was thinking OME all 4 corners with an aal in the back and armor (sliders, bumpers). I was also looking at Icon or King midtravel too.

I would do icon extended travel, LR UCAs, allpro rear lift kit. I wouldn't do resi since I'm not into desert racing and I would be a weekend warrior. I'm sure others with more experience would be able give you better suggestions.

If this is a 60/40 truck (60% onroad, 40% off), then go with your initial gut instinct of the Wheelers OME stuff,,with a good set of sliders and bumps.

With careful shopping,,you should have some money left over for a good inside tailgate protector or something along that. Even enough for a winch, which is handy in the desert, believe it or not.

The bigger dollar gear/flashy name stuff CAN ride a bit rough if not set up or purchased correctly. If this isn't a problem and you want the look as well as a possibly rougher ride,,then go all-in. If you do decide,, please do plenty of research,,and then a bit more.

Beeen there, dun it!,, bought and sold the shirt years ago.

More like a 90/10 haha. I'm also going to be moving to alabama soon so that's a cross country road trip so I want it to be comfortable on the drive there

If you're not sure how to spend it, you could send the $2000 to me. I'll use it on mods for my truck and then tell you what works best so you can be sure to do the right thing next time you have $2000 to burn.

JK. Good luck - post pics when you're done!

mid travel on a 90% road driven truck? cheaper lift like ome or toytec should be fine. Then save rest for supercharger or whatever you feel like.

Ha!.. OK, well,,there is your $2g's to burn, just in the move from Diego to Alabama.

Grab a AAL kit for the back and slide it in place,,to handle that weight that it will be loaded to. Maybe just a airbag kit,, to level that load and firm things up a touch. I think they run about $250.

Once your feet land in Alabama and things get smoothed out,,then stack some bucks for a really cool setup. I am sure there are a few folks down there that would help you spend your money and get it all put together.

A buzzkill?,,yeah somewhat. Hell, I would love to have a Extra long travel setup. But if I was moving across, I would hold that money for a bit longer.

Best answer. As long as your 401K and IRA are not maxed out = no mod money lol

If you're 90/10 type of driver and it's seemingly a daily driver, then I would just go with a full OME suspension for about $1500 and a set of sliders. There's your $2000.

No need to to mid travel, beefy front and rear bumpers, etc.
