Currently running 265/70/18's and am trying to figure out if anyone has tried to put the full size spare under the bed. Looked at the mod to cut off the hangers underneath and plan on doing it. Just wondering if anyone has crossed this bridge before. If so how did it work out and can you post pics? Thanks!

I mounted a 275/65-18 duratrac under the bed without having to mod anything

    To what purpose?

If you want to get an extra rim to rotate it in with the others, be aware that it's going to get dirty down there and you'll need to do a lot of cleaning on it every time you rotate. (Maybe not so much in South Carolina with no snow on the roads...)

If it's just to serve as a spare, be aware that the factory spare rim is a 16" rim (probably with a 245/75R16 tire) no matter what size rim was mounted on the four wheels on the ground.

I compromised and carried a 32" on the factory spare rim down there, until I got a tire mount bumper. Only then did I get an additional rim with a size matched tire.

Others have forced a 33" in with a bit of bending and/or cutting.

Appreciate all the info, i was just looking for a spare 18 " rim to put the same size nitto tire on for rotation. After looking for a while i can't seem to find a 18" spare and am going to have to downgrade to a 17" rim and just match the tire size with the calculator.

Thanks geekhouse that is exactly what i wanted to see. I figured I could pull it off by cutting off the brackets on both sides. Good to go.

you can clear a 285 with the cuts in the brackets, however the edge of your tire will hit the tip of the diff/ muffler when the rear articulates......with my plate bumper with hidden hitch it still fits but 2/3 of the tires shows. I relocated my tire due to this.

I just took a BFH to them to bend 'em a bit. If I ever go stock or smaller tire, I just can bend the tabs back.
