Yep, just use the Krylon Fusion no primer needed.

Just so you know, you don't need to sand the bezels. I used oven cleaner to strip off all the chrome before I painted mine. Nothing left but nice smooth plastic. :D

Finally got around to do this again, this time on my 2014 Tacoma! Much harder than the older versions, almost quit five times, but SO glad I finished it through!

dear OP what kind of spray paint did you use. Just regular flat \ gloss spray paint? Or a translucent kind? Thanks.

I have a 2014 Tacoma, and I really want to try this out this summer, but am pretty intimidated by it. I found a thread on here before that had pictures of every item to purchase...was it removed? I just love the way it all looks.

    Later.

I've read this thread in its entirety but I need confirmation on a few things:

Use bleach or oven cleaner and a brillow pad to remove the chrome?

If I'm going to rely on the factory sealant and some additional silicone, can someone confirm the type of silicone and summarize that re-baking and sealing process for me?

All of your lights look awesome! My truck is on its way to being blacked out and this is a very necessary step!

Can I use Automotive GOOP to seal the headlights? I have some left over from doing my grill mod.

I am going to do this this weekend, with a twist. MGMHLM. I got all my supplies, 600 grit, adhesion promoter, duplicolor perfect match and clear coat. I bought 3M window weld in a tube, no "gasket" type on the shelf at peppy's or autozone. Has anyone used the tube? its same stuff in a caulk tube, apparently.

Give it a go! It's not too bad once you get started, just take your time! :D

No need to remove chrome, just buy some Krylon Fusion, goes perfect to plastic which is what the chrome piece is! As far as the silicone, most use marine if adding additional sealant, I just re-used the factory goop.

Never heard. Just buy some cheap marine silicone and you'll be fine along with factory goop.

I made it through this. I think it turned out great. I did mgm instead if black. Hardest most frustrating part was getting the headlights out of the truck. Almost like a square peg and a round hole. I finally used some muscle and got them out, no tabs broke. They went back in way easier when done.

Very :) took some courage to break em open, but I think everything turned out well. Many thanks to all the TW members and tips and tricks. One video I found for removing headlights was invaluable.

Good! I felt exactly the same way. Could not have even thought about attempting without the help of TW and all the videos/advice :D

Looks great! I'm going to try this with a few buddies in a couple weeks. Which video did you follow?? I'm kind of paranoid of screwing something up on a new truck.
