They are looking to get more people into the sport so we can justify having a track that can operate year round. With that being said, they are going to introduce a class that will be more affordable and hopefully get more people into it

It will include something along these lines.... Engine size limit, stock suspension with a limit on max wheel travel (you can upgrade your shocks and bumps though) and it must have a cage as well.

Like I said its still up in the air, but something to think about for next year. GTF has one of these trucks that meets the required parameters that they will be running at the fair the 25th. So like mentioned above come check out the races that weekend!

They've been talking about it for a while. I think after this summer I might have to excuse myself from thinking about super stock racing haha. They're pretty strict parameters but it'd be a ton of fun.

I'm going to start a project if there is something available other than once at the fair. May start with something along the lines of the stock class and then build it up from there.

Anyone experienced with tuning CBs? I can't get an SWR lower than 7.5. I've narrowed it down that it's not the coax or connectors. So I'm assuming its a bad ground on the mount. I used a multimeter with one probe on the mount and one directly to my frame and have a very high ohms/resistance reading. It should read zero, for no resistance, correct? I think the powder coating on the mount may be causing it. If so that kind of sucks to have to scrape off the coating I payed extra for...

Depends... There are a LOT of variables to tuning a CB. I spent about $100 while tuning mine, and it's still not quite where I want it. I highly suggest you look into getting your HAM license and getting a 2 Meter mobile in your rig. Seriously. CBs gonna be just about worthless once you get about 2 miles away from anyone else. Don't get me wrong, they're great to have when you're running a trail, but if you're putting one in to call for help when you're alone. Forget it. Tried to convince Ben when I was at his house in July.. think I might have converted him..

    Asshole comments done with... :D

What coax cable are you using? Usually, the low quality stuff with pre-molded PL-259 ends is junk.

Where is your radio grounded? The ground on your radio is much more important than the one on your mount. Don't scratch off that powder coating just yet.

Where is your antenna located? I've got mine on the rear corner of my bed; which just about the worst location for getting a low SWR - but works the best for me. Not trying to get any range with it, that's why I have a 2 Meter (75+ Miles).

Where are you tuning your antenna? In the open? Away from any obstructions, that will reflect RF?

You using your SWR meter correctly?

Coby, looks like you had a great time.

Where did you get your canopy? I've been looking for one on Cragslist with no luck :(

Jake. Everyone is now dumber having read this post. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

Just kidding, you definitely converted me. Thinking through a lot of different things as of late, the looming build being one of them. But ham is on that list as well. I'll be doing it at some point for sure.
