Leaf pack differences?

I have the factory non-tsb leafs, with an AAL right now. I'm starting to get annoyed at the stiffness. They seem really bumpy to me. I've also got an axle wrap issue that I haven't been able to remedy. And the squeak.. f*ck! everytime i drive off pavement my shit sounds like metal grinding metal, regardless of cleaning & lube. driving me nuts.

Bottom line, I'm looking at full leaf packs to start fresh.

I've read good things about all pro, and im not loking to spend $600 on some springs. I know that these aren't designed to handle weight...but I'm wondering - is there any difference in weight capacity between the 1.5" and the 3"? Or any difference in ride stiffness?

Check out Wheelers. They carry Deaver, and Alcan. Top line springs IMHO.

But you shouldn't have to put up with it. If this is the case go to a spring shop and have new teflon pads installed. It cost me around $50 to do my Tahoe and it was money well spent.

I saw you post that in another thread I read..thought about doing that too but i really want a smoother ride so i think im going to leave them alone for now and hope new packs will last a while w/o the noise..

deaver & alcan = both about $599. Is there really THAT much of a difference to be able to charge $200+ more than all pro?

they are.. but really though, IYHO, is there a big difference in the springs? If it's significant, i would possible consider spending $200 more..

I have never heard anything bad about the Devers or Alcan. I know Deaver has TOP notch customer service. They are a leaf spring...nothing really high tech about them, so I dont see how one could be that much better than another. Jhodge swwms pretty happy with his AllPro springs, so it hay be worth saveing a few bucks. To Add: You MAY want to give Wheelers a chance to match the price of the all pro springs.

Our springs are less expensive only because we buy them hundreds at a time, and we can pass that quantity discount on to our customers. They also carry a 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects!

Also, to answer your question, the spring rate is the same on the 1.5" and 3" leaf springs. Thanks!

Will the leaf springs from either AllPro, Deaver or Alcan give a weight capacity improvement over stock? I am thinking about going the full leaf pack instead of AAL before I get started. Been waiting on my Icon setup with an AAL but starting to think I should just snag a pack.

No, they will not. You will actually loose carrying capacity by a significant amount, although, this is the price you pay for articulation and increased off-road/on-road ride.

none of those will improve capacity, but from stories i've heard, the deavers/alcans will hold weigt better than the AP's

Our springs were designed for flexing off-road, but they will handle some weight as well. I've personally carried 500 lb loads several times and towed 5,000 lb trailer & boat with no issues. The truck will sit lower in the rear until the load is removed, but then they return to their normal height.

Hit my brother up Nick...we are rocking the 3" AP leaf pack in the rear of the truck! The ride is definitely smoother and now that the new Fox Shox's are going on the rear it's going to be even more smoother! If you are worried about sag, get some Timbren bump stops to go along with them. I believe AP also sells the Timbrens with there U-bolt flip kit! The Timbrens will help keep the truck from completely sagging...

It looks like this...
