top end rebuild, ever do it?

just wondering how your experiences were with rebuilding a top end, or even doing a bunch of maintenance on your own bike..

on my 01 cr125 i just rebuilt the top end, decarbonized the rc valve, installed all new studs, put in new boyesen pro series reeds, rejetted the carb for the new pc pipe and silencer.. i did the top end on my 96 cr80 when i was young, but someone walked me through the steps.. this was the first time i did it on this bike.. it took a lot longer than expected, but i took my time and did it right.. finally she's done..

she started right up and everything looks and sounds good..

now i can't wait to hit the track and make some minor adjustments to the carb..

next on the list is a seat cover and custom graphics..

below are before and after.. i also sent the suspension out for a revalve and service

I helped my brother do one on his 03' CR125... I would agree that it took a lot longer than we were anticipating but it runs like a champ now...

I do all the maintenance on my bike, always did the top end on the old 2000 CR250R. They charge out the ass to do those things so i just learned and started. Nice work!

I miss my old 125, i try to jump on one every chance i get and ride the piss out of it lol

Looks good man. I can't wait to get my 01 CR125 back together. Bought it knowing it would need a topend rebuild... got more then I expected lol. I need to find a decent used cylinder or get the current one repaired still. But when I had it all apart, I noticed a bunch of dirt on the crank, so right now the entire bottom end is apart being washed. Also going to replace all bottom end seals.

Wanted to have it done for May but I'm going to have to push it back to June...

They dont have the power of a 250f but they make ya ride alot harder! Ive gotten pretty lazy compared to how I used to ride my two strokes, I just lug around now when before i was always trying to stay in the powerband.

Every 20 hours on the old YZ125. It takes me about an hour each time.
