The tailgate will taco in the middle if not careful loading motorcycles. Ask me how I know. And the cables will stretch a bit over time.

I've had dad's grizzley 700 in the back of my taco with the tail gate down, not a problem.

I have a Polaris Sportsman 500 that I am sure would fit in the back but my tailgate doesn't seem like it could take the weight on the way up. Just 2 people sitting on the gate makes it flex like crazy. I'm nervous the thing will fold right up with the weight of my quad on the way up into the bed.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have an 09 tacoma trd offroad short bed and need clarification. After reading some of the posts, I'm curious as to how the 450's and 500's actually fit. Do you drive over the wheel wells? The distance between the wheel wells is about 42 inches and most 300's are wider than that, let alone a 450. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the maximum width of your 700 or what year is it and I'll search. I'm asking because my '15 Sportsman 570 is 48" and it really doesn't fit...too wide.

    Sbsga,

Thank you for sharing! Does the outlander fit between the wheel wells? The front end doesn't look raised.

They fit between the wheel wells but it is tight. You will hear a little rub from the side lugs on the tires but nothing to be concerned about. Back tire was about an inch and a half past the pivot point of the tailgate. This weekend was the first time I put it in there. Truck seemed to do well. I drove about 3.5-4 hrs to Ocala National Forest with it to do some trail riding and all in all I would say it was very stable even the couple times I looked down and caught myself a little north of 80mph. I did suffer a bit in economy but I feel if I was more conservative and put cruise control on at 65 I probably would have noticed as much. I will say if you have wider than stock tires on the outlander or if you have the max it will be a no go inside the wheel wells.

In case anyone has this question now, specially right before hunting season, the Honda 500s fit fine.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
If I can fit a behemoth Grizzly 660 with fat mud tires in the bed of my first gen DCSB, just about any quad can fit in a Tacoma I'd think! I'll upload a pic later.
