New to me HONDA FOREMAN!

So I got caught up in the excitement of a farm auction yesterday and came home with a 1997 Honda Foreman 400 4x4. It seems well maintained, nothing is broken and it starts and runs well (even after sitting outside all night at -14*C).
The tranny seems a little sloppy and it definately needs new tires. I have never owned an atv before but have wanted one for the farm and the kids to play on.
Any advise, recommendations or warnings on this particular model?

IMO those are the toughest ever made. Change the oil/filter couple times a year, don't even really matter what kind/brand. Clean the air filter, be sure to use some filter oil on it afterwards to trap dust. And it'll out last you.

You will never have a prob with Honda 4 wheelers. They are the best. They will go just about anywhere you want them to go.

Haven't had a chance to post pics yet but I'm off work this week so I'll do it tomorrow. I have been looking for tires as the fronts especially are BALD. They are the original tires and rims AT24x8-11 (front) and AT24x10-11(rear). I have looked on Northern Tool and Summit Racing websites and neither seems to carry these sizes. What size should I go to, keeping in mind I want to use the original rims and I am looking to spend as little $$ as possible. I don't really need a gnarly tread just something that will last and get me up the trail. If anybody has upgraded their rubber I would consider some new takeoffs as well!

Take a look over at RockyMountainATV.com or DennisKirk.com Chapperall.com and look till your heart is content.

Yeah, yeah I know - no pics yet but I think I found some tires! They are take offs from a 2005 Yamaha Rhino on OEM aluminum rims! 25x8x12 Front & 25x10x12 Rear. From what I can tell online, the rims will bolt right up to my Foreman. Can anyone confirm that? The bolt pattern is 4/110 on both and they are 1" bigger in diameter and the rim diameter is 1" bigger. Width is the same.
Anyone forsee any issues?
