Hauling full size Utility Quad????

I just got my 09 Access cab 4x4 and I have a 2006 Honda Rincon 680 utility quad that I need to haul around. It fit really well in my Ford F150 6.5ft box. I know it might be tight and awkward to make it fit in the back of the tacoma. But before i decide on going with buying a trialer to tow the quad with, has anyone had good experience with hauling a full size Utility quad in the 6ft Tacoma box?

 

We have a 650 Rincon and (had) a 500 Rubicon and they fit fine. you just have to back it in so it doesnt hit the window and the tailgate needs to be left down. thats it!

 

Good to know. Do you have pictures of how the fit in the bed?

 

I found this website of a company in Alberta Canada that builds these riser ramps that fit in the back of a truck and by rising upwards it allows the Quad to site at an angle alowing it to fit in a smaller bed! They said they could build one for a 2nd gen Tacoma.

I used to haul my Honda Foreman in the bed of my 95 Taco. I had to ride over the fender wells because I had oversized tires. You have to leave the tailgate down. I mounted a 2x4 across the top of the bed which made sure that I did not bust the back window out with my winch hook. When I bought my 08 Taco, I bought a trailer for my ATV and I put my daughters ATV in the bed of the truck. The worst part of carrying a full sized ATV in a Taco is that your rear view mirror becomes useless.

 

Thanks hillbillynwv. I also decided to play it safe and just got a trailer too. Just didn't want the hastle of jamming the quad in the box. A trailer is much easier than having to worry about ramps and tailgates holding up.

 

i have a 07' Grizzly 700, and had a bad experience trying to fit it in my bed, hit my back window and cracked it...about a $900 screw up....i havn't tried to back it in but im a lil scared to

 

I drive a 450 foreman right up into my truck with 26 ITPs on it like nothing. Looks tough as hell in there!!

 

Yeah, those foreman's have a real square front end so you can do it with them. The Rincon is quite pointed so it would hit the window if pulled straight in. It was the same thing for my Chevy 1/2 ton, and my moms 03 chevy 1/2 ton, it would hit the window if ran straight in like that. I do love the way everything looks with a nice quad in the back of the truck.
