Street legal ATV (quad)?

Do any of y'all run street legal ATV's? Where do you live? I'm looking into making my z-400 street legal in Miss, and I think I'd have to get it re titled after it has all the appropriate equipment.
Please don't expect a quick reply as I don't know when I'll have wifi next.
Thanks

Ha, you ride my quad's archnemesis in the competition side lol. But yea, I ride a Honda 400EX that I made street legal in Montana. It all depends on the laws of your state so I'd start there. There's only a handful of states that allow it. But here in Montana, the requirements are you need a working headlight, brake light, mirrors and horn; then pay the licensing and registration fee and get your plate, just like a motorcycle plate and you're off to the races! Good luck and have fun, quadding around town can be a real blast, especially in winter!

that's cool that you can do it in montanna, i found out i can do it in AZ no problem, Miss, however i would have to add blinkers, mirrors, horn, windshield, and DOT tires, then register it as a normal vehicle rather than a ORV.
what made the idea come up was this picture i took in switzerland, the quad is a z-400.

your quad looks good, i wish i had a place to get mine dirty, i can only get it dust for now, but we might take it to MISS. when we go next weekend, so that'll be fun

Nice, yeah I don't have any pics of mine on the street, nothing really substantial to see lol. But yeah, I love mud and puddles. I had my quad way dirtier than that too, will go see if I can dig up a pic. Sucks you have to put all that bs on it to ride on the road, be better off buying a cheap street motorcycle.

yeah, it sucks that i'd have to add all that crap, but i think it'd be worth it, another option would be get a nicer can-am 4x4 750 or 1,000 and make it street legal.
i don't do motorcycles, i rode them a little when i was a kid, but i don't have the balance to ride 2 wheelers anymore.

Here it is! This was from a couple months back when the spring meltoff was going on and we found a cutoff road that was basically pure mud to play around on. Me and my buddy ironically have the same quad pretty much except his is a 2000 and mine is a 2002.

The last picture is my friend's 400EX, and it had even more mud on it. The trick to getting big chunks of mud on your quad like that is to ride through it slowly so they can pile up. If you haul ass it just slides off the fenders.
I didn't keep mine muddy like that for long, my fenders are pretty brittle and one is broken so I don't want them to break off, at least until I buy new ones for it.

i'm not really a fan of it, and i wouldn't be able to do as much off-loading with a spyder compared to a quad.

that looks like a blast, i don't let my quad stay dirty, unless it's light dirt, but i don't like mud to sit on it.
it looks like y'all could use new tires, bald tires are a blast in the dirt.
my sisters quad (04 250ex) on the other hand will sit covered in mud for a day or 2 after she rides through the mud, but only because she wants to ride in the mud more.

idk about atvs. but i know in TN you can street legal utvs/ side by sides for roads that have a 45mph speed limit or less. has to have working head light, brake like tail light, windshield, seat belts(they all come with headlights/brakes lights seat belts) also have to add blinkers. and thats what is pricy for them. registration is like 15$. our rhino has everything but blinkers right now. also we don’t need DOT tires. thank god because they suck off road.

thats nice that they let you do that, i bet i could find some aggressive DOT tires, but i'll probably just switch out the tires after inspection.
in Miss. they used to have a law saying if you had a drivers license, or if you took the safety course (if you were 16 or older) you could ride a atv inroad, but they had to many people screaming "think of the children" so they ditched that.

Yeah, I did get new ones not long ago. GoldspeedSX xc tires, 6 ply. I went with the thickest sidewall I could find. It was sharp rocky terrain that ruined my old tires, but they were crap even when I got the quad.

never heard of them, google says they're like the razrs? how do you like them?
what size are you running?
my sisters 250 had itp mudlites but they were to heavy so i took them and i like them, they're 22x11-9 compared to the 20x10-9 that were on my quad before, they still have a good amount of tread left, but i'm still keeping a eye on replacements, this is the list of tires that RMATV has in my size (i'm gonna stick with the bigger size to keep ground clearance) http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/t/...res-All?sort=2

They are pretty good, I like them. 20x10-9s is what they are as well. I wanted Mudlites, but couldn't find them anywhere in that size.

Here they are on the back of my quad first day I had them on.

And here's the picture of them from eBay when I bought them. They bite real nice and dispense mud pretty well as long as I stay moving.
