Anyone on here participate in the Mini Baja Competition when you where in College? A group of 10 of us bringing back the program at UCSB for our Senior Engineering project.

For those who dont know what Mini Baja is:

Not UCSB, just taken off Youtube.

Here is our Website with pictures of previous UCSB cars:

I will probably make a build as soon as we start fabricating. Right now we are in the design/fundraising phase. We all have some machining experience and are familiar with offroad buggies but as far as designing and building one from the ground up to race is pretty exciting. Kinda the reason I went into Engineering in the first place. Anyways if anyone has any experience with Mini Baja or advice to give, we would be glad to hear it.

yup. UTEP!! we were a group of 3 civil engineers..and one mech eng.

we did it two years straight. the first year, we sucked..i cant even remember the host school (just called my buddy. it was in phoenix) . the second year, UTEP hosted it and we came in 16th. 1st place in the hill climb!! UTEP had two teams. our renegade team, and another full ME team. they got all the the school money, and we got our own from private donors. the school looked at both cars and knew right away they backed the wrong team. the other car was horrid...i should have taken a pic.

best time ever. i remember sleeping on the floor of a dirty machine shop. good times. good luck!! dont forget to put A LOT of effort on the cost analysis and presentation of the program. you win that way.

Sweet man! Yea so far we have spent our entire summer fundraising. We have a lofty fundraising goal because we really improve the program and machine shop at ucsb.

They bumped up the HP to a whopping 10hp! But its all about putting the power to the ground.
