I sell motorcycles for a living. I have owned and sold every brand of bike in this poll. Everyone has their preference and you will never get a Honda guy to buy a Yamaha, just like you will never get a Chevy guy to buy a Ford. People grow up with certain brands based on other people's opinions or dealer availability. All the manufacturers produce similar products these days, but they all do feel different and shine in different areas. My personal preference through a lot of trial is KTM. Can't beat the quality of their parts and the hydraulic clutch is equivalent to the TRD package... it's just so nice when you have it

I forgot about the hydro clutch. It's amazing. And to top it off, it's self-adjusting.

currently on a ktm 450exc riding trails in CO and UT. Learned on a yamaha and rode a buddies suzuki. The ktm is more manueverable on teh single track while the yammie is like a tank(not a bad thing through rock gardens). It comes down to riding style and preference but I think it was said above, all are fun and bound to give you perma grin.

Currently own an 08 YZ450. set up for desert racing, Rekluse, IMS with dry break, suspension, armor and the list is toooo long.
I grew up on Honda, tried Suzuki, then Kawi and in between all of those I had a Yamaha and always went back to BLUE.
The ONLY reason I haven't owned a KTM(300) is because I have all the tooling to do everything myself like suspension, motors, valves.. you name it and KTM uses parts that would require me to buy more tools.
    I'll stay true to blue!

hydraulic clutch huh? does it ride like night and day between the conventional clutch in riding situations (track, trails, hills, etc)? i've read in a magazine once that they were coming out with a 2 wheel drive dirtbike. i can't remember which brand it was, but i think it would be bad ass!!!

2 wheel drive dirt bike? I'm not sure that would work good? Especially when you would need to brake slide on a turn on the track. Or would it be used more for the trails?

Interesting idea none the less though, I think it would cause more problems and raise cost, or I'm wrong, I don't know lol. Would have to see it in action or ride it.

This is the replacement truck for my 97 frame rot truck. Need to get a game plan for mods!
Man... all these people on here liking custom, top of the line stuff and nobody even mentioned Husqvarna... They are some of the best bikes made IMHO.

Do yourself a favor and check out some of the user friendly features the Husky's have... one of my favorites is the valve adj. one finger fastener for seat, one bolt for tank, 4 valve cover bolts, then you pull two springs of rocker shafts, slide rocker arms sideways, pull shims, replace with new shims, then reverse it all... you have just replaced your valve shims...does it get any easier:)

    15 Min valve adj job!

Just don't go flaming me because this a flat-track Photo... I also use them in the woods!

KTM makes a 2 wheel drive seen it personally racing indoor enduro. If you guys like the hydrolic clutch you should look into a recluse clutch greatest thing ever. Dont have one but what it does every time you let go of the throttle it automatically engages the clutch. So you dont stall on tight trails and you can just kick start no clutch pretty amazing. Ive never ridden KTM but good thing about them is from factory they don't need aftermarket exhaust, suspension, alot more i dont know of. I have 04 CR250R and my bud has 02 yz 250. I like the yamaha I used to think it was just pick a color but my bike compared to my friends yamaha is completely different. Ive owned suzuki 50 yz50 kz60 honda 190 kx 125 and this CR250. If you go to a dealer see if you can test ride first a lot of them will let you.

KTM doesn't make an AWD bike.

Christini makes a kit for the KTM 300 and for the Honda CRF250 and perhaps some others... The front wheel drive is only engaged once the rear wheel has lost 'sufficient traction'. They are currently being raced in EnduroCross and in some of the Extreme Enduros...

I used to have a KTM 200SX and that was a sweet bike. Nimble like a 125 with near 250 power. Great combination.
