Lol, the words reliable and CRF250R do not belong in the same sentence.

    jk

My '07 CRF250R is in my garage with the Engine in a carboard box. I can ship it but you will have to pay for two shipping fee's.

    btw, it doesn't run.

Thumpertalk is the shit! I've spent A LOT of time on there - like 4000+ posts.

I also owned a 2005 CRF250r. I bought it for $3,300 and sold it 2 years later for $3,000. I also put $800 into a top end rebuild.

What kind of riding do you do? This bike should be relegated to the track and nothing more. I only spent 10% of my riding on the track and this bike held back my learning on the trails.

I then picked up a KTM 200exc for $2800 and will never look back. It handles power like a 4stroke (very torquey) but is cheap to maintain - like a 2stroke. If local restrictions are not a problem (red/green sticker), get a 2stroke.

Otherwise, you should be in the price range for a nice 250r. I bought mine on eBay and sold it on Craigslist. I also had a lot of lookers by posting it on Thumpertalk.com.

    Day I bought it:

    Day I sold it:

And a piece of my shattered case when the cam chain slipped and my piston bounced off the head and valves (and why I went 2-stroke):

x99999 on getting a nice 2 stroke. I have never owned a 4 stroke but my bro's crf250r feels like a dog compared to my 250SX. I have a map switch, XC tank, and an 18 rear wheel on it and it absolutely rules on the trails which is all I ride.

My first bike was a CRF250X. It was a great bike but needed more power when I started ridding the dunes. If you ever plan on ridding dunes definitely get a 450.
