Alright alright I'm gonna go out and find the BETTER switch for y'all so I can start puting together a kit but unfortunately I leave for that 7 day cruise tomorrow!! No time to make or sell any whips as I won't be in town :/
One week from tomorrow I'll be back, putting together a kit and about 6 whips already being requested! Holy cow.... I'm gonna need some more cb whips.

Was not expecting this much interest, thanks guys, I may make it through this Christmas after all...

One more thing, it's important you guys know that the whips are not as durable as the tribalwhips or safeglowhips or whatever. They use a thick plastic casing that I haven't been able to find so these aren't as durable. Just don't drive in a parking structure with the whip up and you'll be fine. Over a year and I haven't had one break and they've taken a few tree hits before. That's all! Thanks again!

If you don't reccomend using the whips as a cb antenna, you might be able to find something cheaper than a firestick to wrap your lights around.. Kinda like the sticks on some fire hydrants (not sure if they do that near you) but I'd imagine they've gotta be 1/4 of the price of an antenna.

And those hood lights look awesome. I wish I didn't already have some led spots under the hood. I'll see if I can send some locals your way for the kit when it's available.

Another suggestion, I used a mercury switch to turn on my hood lights since it works based on angle. So when you put the hood up, it turns on, and when you close the hood it goes off. Not sure what kind of pressure switch you used but ive seen people use pin switches with less than stellar results.

You can wire it to a pressure switch so it will come one when the hoods open

Hey Everyone! Sorry for throwing this out there and then disappearing! The cruise was excellent and lots of fun, wish I hadn't lost my cell phone in Cozumel, Mexico though. Let's just say that was good tequila.

Anyway.. I just ordered a ton of LED strips for the hood lights (and whips), should be in my possession with a weeks time or so, then after that I will put a kit together with a switch and fuse so you'll have all you need. I'll also make a how-to thread!
As soon as it's ready I'll do the math on how much it costs me, add a couple bucks and either make a group buy or just sell them individually or both!
Really looking forward to making these for you all, thanks again for the interest!

I live in southern California they do not do the fire hydrant whip thing but I know exactly what you're talking about. That is actually a great idea and could possibly help make these a LOT cheaper, thank you! I'm going to look that up and see what I can find. As long as it has the standard size screw mount at the bottom I can make it work. It also wouldn't weight as much!

I haven't tested the whips to see if they work with the LED's on them but just kind of assumed they wouldn't with all that electrical flow around them, maybe now I should do some testing to see the effects.

You couldn't be more right about the pressure switch, the one I have worked flawlessly when I first installed it, but barely works now, Im guessing it has something to do with exposure to water from washes and rain, plus I didn't see a "waterproof" or "outdoor" label on it anywhere.
Mercury switches would be king if I could find them for cheap, or just find them in general. I will also keep that in mind and see if china makes them or something. Until I find something better I'm going to go with a different type of pressure switch that has been working for a friend of mine with the same lighting for months now with no problems. He had the original switch as well and it didn't take much more than a few weeks for it to go bad for either of us. The new one seems to be much more durable, I'm going to run to the store where he said he got it and find out how much they are.

Thanks once again for the advice. You mentioned you already have yours set up and it sounds a lot like what i saw this fellow with a silver 2nd gen DC do before he moved off to China for work or something. He had Oznium led pods with a mercury switch. Either way, sounds like you've got a pretty clean setup!

So i'm working hard on getting that kit together for you guys but does anybody want a WHIP in the meantime? I've already ordered lots of supplies, time is the only issue now.

I now have all the supplies to make the kits. Just going to figure out the cheapest way to ship (probably flat rate envelope) and how much to charge for each kit. Then a how-to thread and they will be up for sale/group buy. Really looking forward to getting these to everyone.

I have enough to make about 10 Kits right now. I may need to use one of them though for the how-to. I plan on taking down my current setup and replacing it with the exact same components of the kit so everything matches up.
My current setup uses a different switch, dimmer LED's, and one wire as opposed to two (which is how the new setup will run.

I got hook rings for the positive terminal so it's gonna be looking real clean folks, real clean.

I like my truck dirty and my wiring clean! :P

Those antennas are dope! If I had some expendable cash, I would definitely take one off your hands, but I'm in the same boat you are. GLWS though!

I haven't tested that but in theory, if they do work it won't be very good. All that electricity running around it will effect the signal.

For the heck of it I will test a regular whip and the led whip from one truck to another at the same difference. I'll test it with the whip on and off. My guess, from having rigged up EL wire around my cb antenna last Memorial Day, is that it will work but not for anything more than a half mile.

I'm sorry no idea yet, I've been swamped with trying to make Christmas happen with much much less than a hundred dollars. I had some money but blew a bunch of it on the components for this kit. With that, I just need to find out how much this all cost me and then I will know.

After doing some quick math, my estimate for the price of these kits is $35 shipped.

(More on everything that includes later)

How's that sound?

Basically $30 in parts, $5 for shipping.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me but I had little to no experience being in business. Does that sound too high? Too low?

I've been told I should sell it for more but honestly I just don't want to! Maybe if I became big or something but this is gonna be a TW thing/perk.

I am interested in the whips. They look really interesting at night. PM me when you have time so I can discuss with you. I'm in the middle of printing shipping labels for stuff. Hehehe
