Getting your windshield replaced?

    Consider Accurate Auto Glass.
    I had mine replaced yesterday by these guys. I have used them exclusivley for the last 5 years. When the guy removed my old windshield, he noticed a little rust at the body seams under the windshield moulding. Instead of ignoring it, and going on about replacing the windshield, he got out some fine sand paper, and removed the rust. Then, He painted it with a very close matching Silver paint. Now....The part of the truck Im talking about is completely covered by the moulding. No way to see it unless the windshield is removed. This is above and beyond anything I expected from a widow company. All at no charge. So far, out of the 3 truck widshields, and 2 car wndshields they have replaced of mine, I have had no leaks at all. And they come to where ever I am. They dont offer free steaks, happy hour coupons, or the like. They DO offer great service, quality Glass (better than OEM, imho), spectacular customer service, and they handle all the insurance paperwork. Just an FYI :) If you need your windshield replace in the metro Ohoenix area, and want to give these folks a shot, let me know, and I'll give you their info

    To be honest I'm surprised I don't go through more myself, being a rock query on 347 on the way to.. well anything lol. I've only busted two in the last few years... one on the G35, one on my last taco (never got it replaced though, it cracked about 3 days before the wreck so.... kinda worked out lol).

    Pitting is probably the most common reason to get a new windshield out here. Mine is getting pretty bad.

    They say Pitting compromises the integrity of the windshield. Also, More than 3 chips is bad.....From what my insurance told me.

    Safelite had to do the same thing on my old F250 and the inlaws old Blazer(that used to be mine as well-coincidence?). Now I am sure I didn't get any fancy rancy silver paint but if the rust is left the seal is compromised and the windshield may leak.

    I wont ever use Safelite again. Last time they replaced my windshield, The guy scratched the paint off both of my A pillars. About a foot or more long, and about 1/4" wide, and down to the metal. THEN, When I complained, He said it was My fault because my truck was dirty.

    LOL! That wasnt the only instance I have had issues with them. They installed the windshield on my Dodge crooked, and it cracked in half the next day. They also fucked up the roof (the edge near the windshield) of my Wifes Pontiac.....They dont have good quality out here. And we like the dirt storms....well....kinda..:eek:

    Chris, I used to work at Mid-City Glass on 16th St back in the early 90's. Doing windshield repairs in Phoenix was a bitch. Handling a hot 'shield was always fun. The best one I can recall and it goes along with your "dirt storm" comment. A customer was driving to Palm Springs and encountered a "dust storm". Thought it would be a fun thing to watch coming across the desert so he parked his car to watch it. Well.....needless to say that "dust storm" totally frosted up that windshield. So much for Palm Springs.
