my dads making me downsize to 235/70/16s

 

Having a blast in this rain. Mud everywhere! I'm going to check out New River wash after work today and watch the flood carnage.

 

why??

 

He says 265/75//16s are too dangerous.. Even though I've been driving on mine for the past three months. His logic was that he didn't have enough money for new tires at the time even though he says these are too dangerous to get again

 

I'm not sure how they are dangerous.. but if he says it then listen to him

 

If he really believed they were dangerous, he wouldn't let me make a weekly 75 mile trip to his house and then 75 miles home, to my moms on these "dangerous" tires

 

They're an inch narrower and nearly 3inches smaller so you'll have less contact patch on the road. Also lower ground clearance so more likely to catch road debris such as shredded tires etc

 

Andrew you might as well consider lowering you truck if you run those tires. It will be a joke. I would rather drive around in tires with 5% tread than ever have that size put on my truck.

 

That's non-sense I tell ya. We shall have a TW meet with your dad to talk some sense into him.

 

Greenway at I-17 is completely flooded out. We are talking 3-6 FEET of rain covering Greenway. The roads that go under I-17 are way too deep for the summer Monsoons. Those underpasses flood way too often.

 

How does.... that size tire thing being unsafe makes no logic.

 

That's why I just kept going on about my business after reading it. Lol

Thanks guys.. He says they pull everywhere on the road. Just to show him, I put the truck on a straight road, and took my hands off the steering wheel. It stayed in a straight line for about a 1/4 mile. I think his issue is control. He wants to be in control of the entire situation, so he's sticking to his opinion.

 

Well. He is your father. You're only 16, with im sure a vehicle he bought. So his rules.

 

Actually he didn't pay a dime. Of the truck or insurance.

 

Well then if you did.. good job. Props. But... still doesn't change the fact that he's your dad.

 

I wouldn't drive it.

 

I guess he doesn't want to completely let go yet. He's got less than 2 years to go to be completely in control of you. And that's all I will say about this subject.

I give you two thumbs up and mad props for paying for the truck yourself!

 

This^^^ You'll have plenty of time to do what you want to it later down the road. It's not the end of the world.

 

I paid almost half (I'm in the process of paying back exactly half to my mom and step dad) and I pay 1/3 of insurance. My dad was supposed to pay 1/3 I pay 1/3 and my mom pays 1/3. He hasn't paid any. I don't want to take credit for paying for all of it myself, but I pay about half. I know he wants control, and I know that he's my dad, but with the fuss he's making about this decision he's being more immature than I ever was with this decision..
