Kalifornia man (read: dumbass) dies in fall at Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK - National Park Service employees recovered the body of a California man who died Friday after falling off an overlook at the Grand Canyon.
An eyewitness says the man was trying to jump from one outcropping to another when he fell between Pipe Creek Vista and the visitor center on the South Rim.

The victim is identified as 42-year-old Andrew N. Stires of Burbank.
A National Park Service helicopter crew, returning from a flight below the rim, found the body located approximately 500 feet below the rim.

Looky here... I was born and raised in California, and I actually went to the Grand Canyon and did not try and fly off the South Rim... We are not all fruits and nuts!

Its only an attempt if you fail!

But seriously I think that anyone who has ever worked in a tourism industry or lived in a destination town is well aware that when the average person goes on vacation they loose any common sense they might have had. Nothing can hurt them, traffic laws don't apply, its okay to trespass and stare into windows, normal social conventions don't have to be adhered to- why? Because I'm on vacation pal- up your's!

I will say this, it seems that Ca. has forever been the target of the everyone there is a "Nut,Fruit, or Flake" syndrome, except for those of us who were born here, the majority are transplants from somewhere else.

So it seems likely to me that the idiot that people from other states are bitching about, is probably the same idiot that moved here from,, oh,, I don't know,, say Colorado ....

Now they are going to have to build a guard rail along the edge of the Grand Canyon before someone else falls and their family sues the state because it is "unsafe."
