I picked up some new paintball guns for my son and myself, and I'm looking to break them in. Weather has been great at least down here around the valley and I'd like to get some people together to have some scrimmage games.

Any people on here with their own gear that would like to put something together?

My son dragged me to try paintball a few months ago and now we've gone out a few times. We've been to Splatter Ranch in N Scottsdale and went to Fightertown in Surprise last weekend.

So, yeah. Probably be a couple more weeks til we go again.

So I found a great spot last weekend while out working with the Cave Creek rangers. The Box Bar camp area out there at the east end of Dynamite Road 12 miles east of Pima road seems like a perfect location for some open scenario paintballing. I asked the rangers what their policies were on people playing in areas like that, and they said as long as everyone picks up their mess and doesn't shoot up signs, buildings, other people's cars, other people, etc. and that they don't make obvious paint messes on "target" trees, they're fine with it. There's a bunch of mesquite growing througout the area, but plenty of space between the trees to get through and with minimal to no cactus. The site has 3 large parking areas but it looked to me like the north end was perfect for parking about a dozen vehicles (yes, cars could make it down the road no problem). The area is right next to the Verde river so there's tons of shade, tree cover, grass, sand, and some open space. Big cottonwoods all around, too.

If anyone is interested in putting together a group for some free play, let me know. If my back is better by next weekend, I'm thinking of going out there next Sunday Feb. 12 with my son to give it a try.

    Bumping this up.

My friends and I are starting to put together some great scenario play woodsball now that the weather is going to be getting better. Josh (Moose1988) and I played at Cowtown last week and had a blast. Next weekend, I am going up to the Mogollon Rim up by Bear Canyon Lake to play 2 days of woodsball and it's set to be a really good time. One day of camping, one day of all-day paint. We're going to be doing a big meet again probably in the same area in mid-late September, so I'll post details as soon as we regroup.

We will be doing hostage rescue, elite vs. everyone else, capture the flag, bomb diffusal (with a killer bomb device with 10 digit diffuse PIN and dual 110db sirens) and other scenarios. Temps up on the Rim in September should be ideal to be able to wear long sleeves and pants and not overheat.

Any folks who may be interested in attending our event next weekend (I'm going up there Friday the 26th to set up boundaries and camp, but play starts Saturday morning when everyone else arrives), PM me for details. We invited 30 and have 15 solid commitments already. This will be a huge field-- probably 1/2 mile x 1/4 mile.

I can't totally commit as of yet, but this sounds pretty cool. I will definitely go if I can. Also if you guys play in town ever, I would meet up for that too

I'm out in Peoria so Cowtown and Fightertown are both on my side of the valley. I haven't tried Fightertown out yet (in Surprise) but the pics of the fields look like it would be a great time. Reviews say it's the place to go. They have a Groupon for it right now too... $25 gets you gear, field fee, and 500 rounds of paint.

Here are some pics of our bomb device while it was being built...

Started with a bare ammo can, drilled holes for the sirens (now going to be 3 of them)

This shows one of the sirens mounted:

Here's the painted box with sirens installed, and we installed a secondary inner lid with rivets and a piano hinge which will hold the LED timer. All wires, 12v battery, and circuit board will be protected inside. This pic shows the outer lid removed so you can see the inner lid installed:

More pics to come once the battery, timer and circuitry are installed.

They are 110db each, and there are now going to be 3 of them instead of just 2. Should be able to be heard all the way across the field. When the bomb is armed, these will sound for 5 seconds, alerting the entire field that it's time to get busy. Sound should carry well in the woods, too.

According to this chart, 110db is the same as a power saw at 3 feet away. 115db is a loud rock concert. Pain begins at 125db.

Here's a mock-up of the timer and pin panel, with keyed power-up. It's being totally reworked to have a clean install on the new inner panel of the device, but it will basically look like this, just ALOT cleaner:

We will be doing some good winter desert balling too. I found that there's a great spot down at Box Bar out in Cave Creek that has a huge area perfect for desert scenarios. No cactus, tons of brush coverage, but space to run around and hide. Big cottonwood trees all around, too.

New auto hopper and red/green dot sight added this weekend to my MR4. Very happy with the results. Had to get a new gun case for it with the new sight because it's too tall for my current case. I'm not taking it off every time I pack it up, either.
