moving to arizona need help from u guys..

ok so i will be moving to arizona in june-july tie frame. we will be moving to rancho sahuarita, probaly renting a 3 bedroom house for a year or so till we can buy our own. my question is im from new york so can u guys give me an idea of utility bills i should expect to pay like. how much should a water bill be for 3 people, how much is an ang electric bill in a house this size for 3 people things like this. also tv, satellite or cable? and how much. also need internet no phone service i have my cell. thanks if u guys can help i would apreciate it.

 

Depends on the time of the year and size of the house.

TriCo and some other power company serve Sahuarita. The Town of Sahuarita does their own water, I think you can get Comcast or Cox out there. If the house has gas then Southwest Gas is the company that serves that area.

Why did decide on Sahuarita? Its a nice little town and all but really isn't much out there. Takes about thirty minutes to get into Tucson. Green Valley is the town south of Sahuarita and thats mostly a 55+ retirement community.

 

My old three bedroom was about $150 in the summer due to AC being on. Most of the time of year it was around $50-$70. Water bill around $30. Cable now is like $110 cause I'm not a new customer anymore.

 

wow that's cheap electric here on long island electric bill is like 250$ all year lol plus oil for heating in winter is crazy money. sahuarita because we know poeple there and i love the community rancho sahuarita i visited it was gorgeous. thanks for the input. cox is the cable company do u think i should go that or satalite?

 

It is a nice looking community. A lot of military and border patrol guys live out there. Just when the market tanked a lot of shady people moved out there. Ran on some fucked up calls when I was working down there.

Rancho Sahuarita is one of Arizona's newer master plan communities. Arizona is full of these "master plan" communities. Lots of homes, tons of amenities (parks, trails, clubhouses, water-parks), retail shopping, etc. It's what homebuyers want, so developers/ builders build their communities this way; well, most of them. Ranch Sahuarita is/was one of the fastest selling residential communities in the US while the market was normal and pre-bubble. I believe for many years, it was second only to a master plan community in Las Vegas.

Rancho Sahuarita, as you may or may not, is about a solid 15 minute highway drive south of Tucson. But, most of your needs (grocery stores, movie theatres, shopping, even a casino) are within that same 15 minute drive.

Typically for all of your bills combined, at the most expensive time of year (summer month of July/ August), will run in the range of $300 - $400. This includes running A/C almost 24 hours/ day during the Arizona summer, cable internet, cable/ satellite tv, water, trash pick-up. This number is more indicative of the WORST CASE scenario, as I assume you may have a 2-story house, which are more strenuous on the A/C handler to cool. If the house is smaller, drop the number by 20-30%.

As you know, there's shady people all over the US. Including the greater Southern Arizona region. But, Rancho Sahuarita is a very welcoming, kid and family friendly community. Don't let Andrew scare you away.

 

Here's more info. This location of shopping on I-19 (known as The Spectrum) will be your largest grouping of stores around you. It is, like I said, about a 15-minute drive from Rancho Sahaurita. Move further north into Tucson, and more options become available. The Spectrum is fully built and occupied. Opened up in like 2007/8.

I wasn't trying to scare him away. In PMs I told him some of the calls I had out there and that the economy effected everyone and everywhere.

But how many times do you hear of someone running away from the cops, driving through two police cars that were set up as a barrier, then flipping and catching on fire.

That was the running joke at the station I worked at. Cause it literally is all in your backyard.

 

FYI... when I lived in Tucson, I worked Pulte's land development group. Pulte had several offerings in Rancho Sahuarita, from traditional to active adult (known as Sonora). Pulte is still actively selling homes down there, although at a much slower clip than 2004-2007. I no longer work for Pulte and have since moved to Phoenix, but I worked for an developer and still use the engineering consultant who was/ still is responsible for the RS master plan.

 

I'll end it by saying I'd rather live in Sahuarita than live in Tucson.

Agreed. If you had to live in Southern Arizona, I'd probably choose Continental Ranch/ Continental Reserve/ the nice Marana (east of the freeway) and Oro Valley areas. Everything else is either too expensive, "yucky" or has no true amenities surrounding it (like Vail on the SE side of Tucson).

 

Don't get me wrong man I think the neighborhood looks awesome. I'd rather just live on the NW of town outside of Tucson because I am young and there is a lot more for me to do up here.

 

x2 but more so OV for me. Anything west of I-10 is a bitch to get cause of traffic and the train tracks. If I was rich I'd live in the Catalina Foothills.

 

thanks arizonad54- i was in rancho sahuarita last year this time. visiting friends and i fell in love with the community. i went up to tuscon and we went out to dinner a few nights buffalo wild wings is not far and thats a favorite of mine, haha...im kinda nervous moving across the country from a place i lived my whole life but i am so excited to start a new life. job hunt is next. thanks for the help and i look forward to some tacoma meets i hope im stil welcome since i now drive an fj.. lol

Since you are moving in the summer.. just be sure to hydrate when you are moving and whatnot. It will be hot from 9am - 7pm, and will still be plenty warm after 7-9pm or 10pm. But once October hits, you are solid for amazing weather until late April/ early May.

I pay $135 a month for my electric bill in a 1600 sqft house but I am on one of those plans were I pay the same rate each month. It helps during the summer when my electric bill would normally be around $180. My winter bill would be less than $135 but not by much.

I use Cox for Internet and TV, pay about $75 a month between the two. Water is around $50. I used to have Satellite TV but despise it when it gets stormy out.
