Changing out new hood

Well the TRD hood is back from paint and I just can't wait till Saturday to put it on. I searched the forum for a how to with no luck. I know it looks easy and my only real question is that if the hood will stay upright after opeing it and then removing the four bottom bolts..or does this take one person to hold each side while I undo the bolts and one more on each side to hold the new hood in place?

 

do you mean will the brackets stay up that hold the hood? they should...

 

Actually i want to know if the hood is going to fall if unsupported ie no bolts

 

Two people min.
Also some kind of shorter item, like a box or something to hold the front in the center instead of the prop rod.

Tape the areas near the corners by the hinges as well for a bit more protection on the fenders and cowl.
There is not much wiggle room for adjustment like on older cars.

The loop in front will need to be watched also as it will move the hood when it locks down.

Had to bend mine carefully to shift it a touch.

Take your time and it should work out well.

 

yeah I did this a couple years back and I needed help just holding it. Open the hood, remove the windshield washer sprayers... with you holding one side and another holding the opposite, unscrew the bolts from the hinges and place aside. Bring the new one up and bolt it in. Don't screw it all the way in as you want to make sure it is straight before you tighten all the way. It's super easy...if I recall, my mom helped me hold the other side of the hood

 

Thanks guys. I actually accomplished it by myself to my surprise. I used a small cooler on each side under the hood so I could close it without the hinge like oh-man said. Before lowering it I removed the back bolts and loosened the front ones. With the hood down I reached under and took off the other bolts by hand. Laid down old sheets on the panels before putting new hood on. put one bolt on each side and tightened a bit. Then just opoend it all the way up and tightened it all down. Got the rubber bumpers on and winsheild washer nozzles, but having trouble getting the old brackets out from the old hood that hold the washer fluid line. There are two of them one near each nozzle. I cant get them out. Also there is no hole in the new hood for the under hood light!?
