Given option to total it or repair it: Totalling it!

Would take 4-6 weeks just to get a frame in.

    Who's go the connections for a 2012?

So I'm driving home minding my own business when traffic starts to get thick. I merged from the 202 west onto the I-10 west. Everyone starts hitting their brakes and we all come to a complete stop. Except the chick behind me, who slams into the rear of the taco. Then behind her is a huge Ford work truck towing a trailer that probably weighed more than the taco which had a forklift on it, he slams into her which slams her back into me. The taco took it well but there does appear to be some frame damage. It goes into the shop this morning. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think. Updates to come!

Yeah, I booked it and it's worth a lot more than I owe anyway.

No airbags were deployed in the making of this debacle.

I hope you are ok and sorry about the tacoma. I hate that section of freeway here in the valley. Is good to hear that you are not upside down on the rig.

Yep, I'd say you have frame damage from what I see in that 4th to last pic. Hmm, what to do? Sounds like time for a new truck. Hope it works out for you. Does your state have diminished value compensation (DVC)? If they try to straighten it and fix it, fight it... it will never be the same and you can show this with DVC computation if it applies in CA. It does here in Texas.

The whole rear quarter of the bed is bent downward. The composite is cracking at the bolt points. I'll have to look into the DVC. Don't want it totalled but I have no interest in a vehicle with a straightened frame.

Just mounted the hi lift in the bed on Sunday. Ordered full OME kit to arrive at the end of the month. And ordered sliders from Avid.

Dang, that's bad. Sorry to see that, OP.
I am very much against bogus law suits, but the diminished value compensation is a legit claim; definately go for it. I think it would not be too much to ask for a new 2012, since your truck was practically new.

    Good luck!

    Update:

Just got a call from the shop. Entire frame is being replaced, it was completely buckled under from the first cross member. Replacing the bed as well. Dealer told them it would take 7-10 days to get in the new frame but it's typically three weeks.

:bananadance: I had hoped it would get replaced and/or totaled out. Feeling better about it all now.

Just a bunch of old crap
Definitely push to see if they can just put your new lift on while they have everything torn off the frame. It's essentially exactly the same labor to put on the new lift as it would be to put the factory suspension back onto the new frame. Then they would align it and everything for you. Free lift install!

....pending all of your lift parts are delivered by then.

Go to http://www.truecar.com and configure the truck you want. Then take the printout to Larry Miller Toyota in Peoria after talking with them on the phone to make sure they will match it. They will probally contact you after you submit your info on truecar. Once you go down there find the truck you want and tell them your not paying for the dealer add on (tint & door edge guards). They will deduct those from the price.
