    We may have to postpone for an extra month or so then. I agree with Jason that these fires may just ruin the entire trip.

    It's burning on the north side for now, but they'll probably close up quite a bit of the areas at the top even if this fire goes out anytime soon. I'd hate to keep planning in the slim hope that there will be anything left at the top.

    I feel really bad for those people. I grew up going to Crown King as a young boy almost every winter for white tail season, and in my adult years I find it one of the closest spots by the valley where you can get to over 6000 feet in elevation in a trip that takes less than an hour. It's a cool little quiet town with an interesting mining history, too. I'll be pretty bummed to see it damaged even more than the previous fires did.
