No need for a boat when catfishing. You want to set your pole up to not move and have your line drawn in tight. Best way to see the smallest bites.

Link to Google Map for SB Cove posted in the OP in the "Where" section. Here it is anyways:

    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=33.868367,-111.617714&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17

I am getting off work at 4pm, heading to my house in Peoria to pick up my gear, and I'll be back in North Scottsdale at 6pm. ColtsTRD and I are probably heading out there together, and possibly Specalt will join up. If anyone else wants to meet up around Pima Rd/101 in North Scottsdale at 6pm, holla and we'll find a meeting spot.

Great idea! For those who are too lazy to get a license in person and want to just pay online, here's the link. Resident and non-resident can use this online form, but there is a $1.25 internet fee for using the online service. Make sure you have a printer attached to the computer you use because you will NEED to print your license (not just the receipt) from the confirmation page after you pay.

    https://az.gov/app/huntfish/home.xhtml

A license covers you from January 1 through December 31 of the same year. If you buy a full license now, it's only good for 1/2 of the year. Just an FYI. Also, for this lake you only need the standard state license, not the urban license, trout stamp, etc. Read the info by each to make sure you purchase the right license for you.

I saw these at Dick's and bought 2 flavors to give them a try. Berkley stuff always produces, and these things feel like leather so they can survive the surf casts I do with my larger catfish rig. I picked up both flavors for $3.99 apiece. You just cut them to size and feed them on the hook until you cover it. Looks like a win at least for some smaller cats. The seem tough enough to catch a few fish on the same piece of bait, too.

I'm stoked for this trip. I'm going to work from home on Friday so I don't have to double back to and from Scottsdale 2 times.

Scott, where do you want to meet, and what time will you be ready to head up? I'd like to get there with a good hour or two of sunlight to get some sunfish for bait.

That works good. That's the Cobblestone car wash one, right? Specalt (Bryan) and I will convoy there together, but I pick my son up at 5:30 and then meeting with Bryan to convoy (he lives right by my son's house). Meet you at 6 at the latest, but we're coming from 16th St. and 101 so we'll probably be there about 5:45-5:50.

Ok folks, looks like we may have a chance of some evening thunderstorm activity on Friday so come prepared. We'll be in a fairly protected area in case of lightning activity, but play it safe. Graphite rods and lightning are not a good combo, but we will be somewhat protected by the mountains/rocks around the cove. If it rains, I'm still fishing unless it gets nuts with wind and lightning.

It'd be nice if the rain cooled the damn place down!

I went to Bass Pro and picked up some last minute gear...got some of that cut but stuff too in the shad flavor lol. I'm gonna get some chicken liver and crawlers tomorrow night at Walmart. Figured put a bluegill on my big ass pole and throw cut bait and liver with the smaller one.

I got some treble hooks, Khale Hooks, weights and more barrel swivels too
