Tucson AZ Camping

I want to get back into camping/fishing/hunting hanging out with nature and am looking for some good camping/fishing/shooting/dove hunting locations.

Criteria:

preferably no official campground/pay site
2WD friendly trails or sand
site on or near the water/lake
as close to UofA campus as possible


Please send me tips/locations/direction etc.

HA! On or close to water, and close to UA? Good luck. There's Apache Junction that has some lakes, but it's hour and a half north. Then Padagonia(sp) that's south, but it's pretty gross from what iv heard.

 

Im planning a camping trip on mt Lemmon off mt bigelow road in the next couple months.

Not what you really requested but it's still a camping trip and even though it may involve my neighbor and crew from work, I think it'd be cool if a bunch of tacomas were mobbin and hoggin the spots up there.

 

hell yes!! this is what i failed at gettin together last year, just turned into a day run, but once it cools off i need to get out and do some camping! bigelow has some great spots!

 

Sounds interesting....... I could go for this.

PATAGONIA LAKE. Closest place with water on a regular basis.

 

Rose Canyon Lake counts as water. It's not a big lake but it's close and has fish. It's about half way up Mt. Lemmon.

Hey man lemme know when you get a better idea of when this will be! i have the Glamis trip already planned 10/19-22nd but the weekend after or sometime early november before the holidays would be awesome!! just lookin at a calender, November 2nd through the 4th is a fri-sun and seem like some good dates
