FALL 2012 TRAIL RUN/CAMPING TRIP

So about an hour and a half? How much does it cost to camp there?

 

To get to the top of Mt Lemmon, plan for about 3 hours from Glendale pending no traffic when you leave. Unless you take the backway, then plan up to approx 4hr.

 

This may sound stupid but i always here about SEMA and have no idea what it is other than its some sort of meet?? and where is it?

what he said and yes its faster up the south/paved side but the idea of a "trail run" means alittle offroading so i figured going up the north side: 4x4 guys can take a detour up to pikes peak and do some 4wheeling while the 2wd guys in the mean time can check out caves or just get up to the camping spots and start settin up/kick back

i have to do some more research but i think its something like 10 per vehicle or 10 per campsite with up to 2 vehicles each, so in theory 5 bucks per person to share campsites..... 1 in particular im thinking of could prolly accommodate 15-20 people

It's awesome, but also exclusive. Have to be in the automotive industry (or have a hookup) to get in. It's like, the best thing ever though. All the new unreleased products coming out (everything from tires to windshield tint). Oh also, it's like the most amazing car show for everything from old restored classics to modern beasts. It's pretty much, awesomeness.

 

well im jealous. i saw the dates are in november as well. at the goin rate of the poll i think i may do one camping trip for those that wanna come beginning of october and another trip for the beginning of november. maybe after takin pics and such during the first round, people who didnt go would be more interested in coming for the november trip

 

Its not that difficult to get into SEMA. My friend bought tickets last year online and went. We have no hook up and definitely arent in the auto industry

 

They release a limited # of tickets, but the usually sell out in a matter of hours. I have always dreamed about going.

 

they you just gotta know when they start selling and know your credit card info in your head. The tickets arent even expensive.I think my buddy got his for like 20-30$

But if you go online while drinking you can go to the attendee page on the SEMA site and buy a ticket online for 25$

 

I get free tickets, I just can't afford to go. If you don't book a hotel 6 months out, good luck getting one.

 

Actually, it's not too hard. Though the main issue with the hotels is SEMA and the porn convention go on at the same time...

 

Time off from work and the price of the food/hotel that kills my dreams of going for now.

 

ANYWAY, back to the thread whats everyone think of 2 different events....1 being October 6&7 and the other November 3&4? I dont care for going twice and camping although the second one i may stay up there 2 nights, that being friday 11/2 and 11/3 then leave sunday 11/4.

 

I'm down to wheel up there one of the weekend and cruz down from the top!

 

any weekend in particular stand out? i almost wanna give rice peak another try i could have made it, i just turned around since jason (motorsport36) wasnt gunna be able to make it up. i may round up some of my friends and try explore the caves for the october trip

 

mt lemon, like popular camp ground with other random peoples around, or random spot with lots of free space to drink and general shinanigans? also havent been to mt lemon in +10yrs, and im only 22....

 

most all campgrounds are pretty far apart, the one i was mentioning earlier is 2 campgrounds really close together but generally the bigger groups occupy that one and turn it into one. would be badass if we got a decent group together and created a taco wall shenanigans are okay in these areas as far as i know, never had any problems............minus a dead fall a couple years ago! freakin tree fell on a guy in his tent at like 2 am and damn near killed him but you seriously have better chances gettin hit by lighting...just not that guy

earlier this year i camped on the north side before you get to the firestation on top where the control road meets catalina hwy. thats where we can find some campgrounds with alittle bit more freedom and space to do whatever.

 

I just did rice peak the other day. About to do Martinez Canyon here soon. Id be down to do two events most definitely. I would be down to go up rice peak with ya and provide some support. haha!
