I just got it a bit ago. Finished updating it and almost done charging it. Love it so far. I still need to finish customizing it how I like. The S pen seems awesome right now. There's plenty of times I imagine I'll use it. Just have to get used to it. The size doesn't bother me. This is my first note, coming from the S4. I've never rooted a phone, and don't know how to go about it. So as of right now that's not an issue for me.

    Awesome man!

Get sketchbook pro if you draw. The options it has is great and its really optimized for S-Pen.

Charging is awesome thanks to that fast charger. 50% batter charge in 30minutes!

This thing is AWESOME!! Haha. I'm enjoying it so far. I'll have to consider it. I doodle fairly often and wouldn't mind being able to keep it more permanent. I usually just do it in my binders at school.

The S-Pen is really cool. It takes a second to get used too, but writing on screen is so smooth and easy. They've done well in my opinion.

The charger is cool. Nothing crazy cuz my old phone charged super fast anyways. I'm used to the speed. But its still awesome!

Anything else you think I could use/need?

    Root lol.

    A good case. .

It's hard to recommend any accessories or software not knowing what the user does with the following daily basis.

Haha. From my understanding, roots are awesome for UI correct?

I have a otterbox and zagg glass. I think I'm set on protection.

I'm essentially a daily user. I don't really do anything demanding of my phone, but I wouldn't mind using it more. I just don't know what else I would do with it.

Root just allows you to make changes to the core system files (root directory). UI features are endless after that. I use it more for framework so I can make the phone do exactly what I want it to do and not to do. Xposed Framework is gift from the gods. One of the biggest things that pisses me off is the notification for input method. It's always there if your keyboard is up and I don't see why they need to tell me that all the fucking time? So with xposed you can remove that notification.

Also without root you cannot copy a file from the phone to the external SD card unless you hook it up to a computer. ES file explore will bitch saying it needs root.

I agree. I am using the keyboard, I know its up. It's up because I'm using it. Haha. Hmm... I'll have to do some more research on roots when they become available. I might be interested. On my s4 I used nova launcher. It was pretty cool. Loved the added features it had.

And really? Then whats the point of the SD card if you can't copy files over? Can you save files to it? Like pictures and downloads?

I hate how I can't edit save a word doc or other files and save to my SD card when it's in the phone and connected to a computer. Is that just a Note 3 thing? I didn't have any issues with my original galaxy phone.

Did you know, you can't name a file or folder Con in Windows? Just learned that the other day.

Nope, its a 4.4.2 and up thing. My note 4 does it as well. It's a 'security' feature so they say. It's fucking stooooopid to me.

haha, yes this is because Con is a system reference for console. You can't do a lot of folder names in windows if its a system reference. Com1 though Com9 don't work. I think prl is another. I can't remember them all.

So I'm looking to build my father a budget computer. He won't be doing anything crazy. He's looking for a daily to do school work and scroll through facebook on. I'm looking to build something that's fast and basic. I assume both the CPU's are well over what he needs, but I'm looking to get him either the i3-4360 or amd fx6300.

    Any help?

As far as the rest of the computer, planning 500 gig HD, 4 gigs ram and then basic PSU and mobo.

    Intel > AMD

For basic PC's sometimes its good to just buy a pre-built one. My dads buddy needed a PC and I found him an HP, i5, 6 gigs of ram, 500gb drive for $280. Really basic but it works great.

    For everything?

And interesting... I didn't know that. Last time my parents bought a desktop was about 10 years ago. They're some old computers still running. I'll have to look around.

Pull the drive. It's going to take hours for it to try and recover your data.

Everything but a monitor. The sale is gone but this is in the same price range. For a few more$$ you can bump up to the i3 but I don't think its worth it. It has an older processor but if for parents PC it's more then enough power vs the i3.

yeah I figured it would be a timely process.. thats fine though. its a paperweight as of now.. might as well yank it, give it to you.. and whenever you have the time.. doesnt matter if its tomorrow.. or months from now.. its useless to me as it sits now.

And that's exactly what I needed. I wasn't sure if it would be enough as I don't know a whole bunch about the lower end CPU's. My dad has finally started to learn XP, so I can't have him do 8(he knows very very minimal about technology). I just gotta find one with 7 on it.

    Thanks! Appreciate it.

For $250 you won't be disappointed. Is it a gaming PC, hell no. Does it do internet, netflix, MS office really well? yes it does.

I'd start him with 8. Believe it or not, people on XP have a hard time transition over to 7. So if he is going to learn a new OS, put him on current.

Also you can make it look more like 7/xp with a few tweaks.
