Not from AZ but have a question for the smart folks here. I just installed subs and they sound bad ass. What can I do to bring my stock unit up to par? It's a '14 touchscreen, not JBL. It sounds good but doesn't go loud. Any suggestions?

Add an amp and swap out your HU. AW9D (Colby) is our local genius that would know more.

The stock unit really can't do a lot when it comes to being louder or wanting more power. It's limited and the paper cone speakers that come with the truck are absolute shit. Replacing the speakers can help, but still the stock HU is weak with power.

If you really want to keep the stock deck, then your best 'bang for the buck' to get it louder would be to get an Alpine Power Pack and some speakers to work with it. Total cost would be around $200-250 for everything. You could put the power pack on the stock speakers and they will get louder, just don't expect them to last very long before they are toast.

Here is the power pack made by Alpine: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ktp-445u

Then find some speakers of your choice, 45watts RMS is the range you want to stick with. Find a nice sensitive speaker and they will sing!

Otherwise if you do an aftermarket HU it will make your stock speakers sound a lot better and you have a lot more options for upgrades. You can get a very nice double din touch screen Pioneer HU for around $300.

I had two of those Fusion IO cards sitting on my desk when I go in to throw them in a pair of devices. This servers twin. Its running the application Perforce I think.

Well that is good news about your upgrade!

By the end of the year we won't have any Copper core switches (Catalyst) anymore. We have about 6 left that feed lab rows. Everything will be going to our Nexus 7000s via fiber. The only copper left will be from the ToR switches to the devices. I'm pretty sure we have almost $500k in spare CISCO parts in our inventory rooms.

Nice. Well i should rephrase, our core's are already Nexus 7K's. We have several Cat6500's that are access switches that we are replacing with 5K/2K.

standardizing on Nexus and consolidation through compute/storage and network helps.

Need an o-scope to figure it out most of the time. However you can get lucky open up the board and see if anything looks to be damaged than just replace that part on it.

Kinda a coffee geek. For the last two days I have been working on two pour over coffee stands That are turning out pretty good. The flower one is a gift for her birthday. Never worked with copper before either. The stands really do nothing for the brewing process other then to look cool holding the dripper (Glass funnel)
