The "Red meets yellow kills a fellow, red meets black friend to Jack" rhyme only works with the Eastern Coral Snakes. The Arizona Coral Snakes dont have any yellow. If the tri color snake you are holding has a completely black face from the nose back its a Coral, otherwise it is a harmless "mimic" like a Milk Snake, a Long Nosed Snake, etc.
The reference you quoted is also about the Eastern Corals as well.
And oh yeah .... it is illegal to sell ANY native Arizona wildlife anywhere.
