I had a similar issue with my old ZX-6 they ended up having to drill and tap all for down pipes so that they could monitor the exhaust coming out of each piston and then they tuned and synced my carbs based on what the exhaust was reading. When they were done they put bolts in the wholes that they drilled and tapped. it was a night and day performance increase and it did solve my dead spots as well.

Very interesting. I hope it doesn't come down to this but sounds like that my last option. The odd thing is it ran fine for years, sat for 5 months and wouldn't start. Took it in for a cleaning/tune, and its been downhill from there.

Was there a specific name for this test they did? I want to call around and see if anyone can try this once I find a good shop in my area.

No wonder all the carb'd bikes up here I've ridden ride like shit. They sit for 5 months at a time, every year, in the cold. I'm not paying for a tune up every year lol

Shit I have to get mine adjusted 2 times a year for it to run decent. When its balls hot I get a tune, and when its not so hot I get a tune.

Oh well. Thanks for the input either way. I'll have to ask around and find a shop that can do this for me.

It might not be your carbs it could be a small leak in the rubber boot that connects the air box the the carb or the carb to the motor

Then again we aren't racing here lol. If it runs a little meh, I can deal (and I deal because I'm too broke to afford having it run right)

We did find a rip in one of the seals that connected the carb to the motor. I'll check those rubber boots next time I have it all apart.

If you can spray card cleaner on to the boot while it's running if the idle rises I can almost would put money on it that it's the issue

I was looking for that picture yesterday, was going to post it up. That was a good day for a ride.

I ride a 2007 BMW 650GS when ever my brother deploys. Plan to buy it off him next year.
