I'm looking into going to ASU next fall, at the Tempe campus. Any TW members live in that area? I'd like to get to know the area (which might include a road trip) before I make any final decisions...

Tempe is a cool place, ASU is a good university crawling with chicks.

Good nightlife in Tempe, you'll like it. Chris 4x4 lives in Tempe, I'm sure he'll chime in anytime now...

Gotta say, I love Tempe. Lots of stuff to do. Pretty chicks, great night life, clean hospitals, and a VERY fast emergency response from the local Peramedics. Though....They tend to leave your front door open while treating you...which sucks in the summer time, but....what can ya do..

Haha sounds like you know from experience. I'm actually an EMT in LA. Do you know anything about the apartments near ASU, like which ones to avoid, or which ones are worth spending the extra buck to get? Also, how are the cops around there, are they usually strict or lenient?

Do the campus police typically patrol the whole area around the campus (including apartments)? Or just the campus itself?

There are some new apartments right be the Tempe Town lake. Looks like a nice place. They are having AWSOME move in specials. Check them out. I dont know the name though. The cops are very cool. As long as your not a dick to them, they are just like any other guy doing a job. Tell the truth, and be set free. ;) HOWEVER....the younger ones (21 to 25 yo) are mostly lost, as they seem to chase each other, or a goast, with their lights on all the time....I never see them actually stop someone.....If you get stopped by Don Yenny, your getting a ticket. Period. He has no heart and reminds me of the Terminator 2 robot....just with a mustache. If he asks you Why you were speeding, dont say anything, as he really doesnt care.

They patrol the whole campus. They are Cops in training....so to speak. They can ticket you and such, but generally dont carry guns. I have never had an issue with them, as for jaywalking, they ARE pretty strickt about crossing in the middle of the street, as University is pretty busy. They have a shit load of cross walks. Use them.

Hahaha I'll keep that in mind. Sounds like a pretty cool area. How's parking around the campus?

Do the local apartment complexes include parking? Walking a couple blocks or taking the train would be worth saving the extra money.

Lots of parking under construction. Best thing is to live close, and ride a bike. Preferably not a nice one.

I showed this to Julie. She says your an "ignorant ass", and "jealous that you could not get into ASU".

With all respect, U of A is much cheaper to go to than ASU. I took some classes at Uof A. Its a nice school.

Thanks for all the advice! I might do a road trip sometime in December to check out the apartments down there to see what's good.

I was over there during the summer (HOT) but I didn't really check out much, just drove around the area. I stayed in Chandler over the weekend.

ASU is a good school. It is HUGE, so if you're looking for the small school kind of feel, forget about it. The downtown Tempe area is very nice. You have Mill Ave and the brand new Tempe Marketplace. It all depends in what you want in where you go to school and what you plan to study. PM me if you have any questions.

Don't go to ASU. I was actually enrolled for a month there but backed out. Yeah the girls and parties are like nowhere else in America. It's not a bad school, but if you can get in somewhere else, go there. Just my two cents and no offense if anybody actually went there on here.
