No worries. That's kinda the reason we liked Goodyear... That it was on the outskirts

I did get another 1st gen after I sold my red truck. The truck I'm driving now is boring... By no means a play truck. Once we move and get settled in I plan to change that though

Let me welcome you to Oro Valley! Born and raised here, couldn't be happier! I only wish that the University of Arizona was a quicker drive haha.

If you ever need anything, let me know or anyone else here know!

Nice! Welcome to the great state of Arizona! Enjoy your new found freedoms! If you are down to meet the Tucson fellas check out the jeep Andrew camp thread. I think there is a trail run this weekend. But its a pretty crazy trail . One you would want to ride copilot on. Dont take your daily driver on. I will see you at a meet sometime

okay, tell me if this is insane: i intend to drive to/from work with a scooter, even in the summer if possible (early morning) but don't intend to drive during midday.

    thoughts?

I dont think so. I always rode my street bike (crotch rocket) during the summer. 100 outside and a 180 degree motor between my legs . Haha but I never thought it was to bad or unbearable. Even with my truck now I would rather roll the windows down and have a hot breeze then have the a.c. on. I say uou would be fine

Hey Kodiak, I haven't researched CO vs AZ but moving from CA to Oro Valley (Tucson), AZ I've noticed the research was pretty spot on at about 25-30% less than Sacramento, CA.

    Gas: $3.29/gal
    Milk: under $2/gal
Tacoma registration: $108 (vs $210 in CA)
    Smog: $12.2

Sorry I don't have other info handy. I'll re-post next time wifey goes to the store. I'm going to costco today for some stuff and I'll share that later.

Also rent is cheaper by about 20 percent of .ca. and buying a house is night and day difference. Way nicer houses for cheaper aswell. Just something you would personally have to look into. Depending on your budget and where you want to live. Just avoid Scottsdale and you are good

i was directed to this thread, haven't read the last 21 pages, here is my response in another thread:

i'm from south MS so heat doesn't bother me, especially with lower humidity.
good place to raise kids? can i find drinking buddies there? can i find a cool place to live with a reasonable commute? last time i was on the west coast i was in san jose and hated it, better, worse, same?

Hey buddy, welcome! I'm an Az native but am leasing a house next to the Honeywell plant this fall (I think you said that's where you were going to be working). It is a new city to me but the area around the plant is great, right next to the freeway, shopping and the mountains. I am in a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a nice sized yard, across from a park and there are a few schools in the area. All of the houses in the area are of a similar size and age (built in the mid 90s) leasing for ~$1,200/mo. Sorry, I don't know cost of purchasing in the area but I'm sure it's easily researched.

If you think you can handle the heat, Az is a wonderful place to live. Tons of outdoorsy stuff to do including off roading, hiking, camping and hunting. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
