It's really said that the desert towns I use to love are so trashed out nowadays.

I am originally from upstate NY and live there now but I lived in Tucson for 4 years and Phoenix for 10 more. There is trash everywhere you go but the main problem in AZ is a porous border with Mexico (Tucson is quite close). I have met many Mexicans when I lived there and quite a few were friends of mine but too many that come here are of the criminal nature. There are enough criminals in the USA that are born here, we don't need Mexico's too. I lived in Tucson from 1978-1982 and there were a bunch of head-shaking moments like the one the OP is talking about. Sadly, humans do such things.

EDIT: Remember last year hearing about 13 killed at the "American Civic Association" in Binghamton NY? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,512559,00.html That happened 2 miles from my house. A few weeks ago, someone was stabbed to death outside a bar downtown. We get around 2 of those each year and the whole county is only around 200,000 people. Binghamton is less than 50,000.

I was in Tucson pumping concrete on campus a few years ago and I was waiting for concrete in the middle of the night and these 3 teenagers walked by and jumped into this dumpster. They were there all night. I did not investigate.

If I moved out of Tucson I'd be going back to northern California, Seattle, or Portland. No way would I go to the Phoenix area. In MY opinion its just a fake southern California. And I am positive Phoenix isn't much better than Tucson regarding the problems we have here. Its a State issue.

Tucson isn't a little town anymore, but it's still way better than a lot of places I've seen on the east coast. DC, Baltimore, NYC-if you wanna talk about drugs and nonsense, these cities are a breeding ground. I can't wait to move back to Tucson.

I grew up in Tucson, and live in Phoenix metro now... From what I've seen PHX is a hell of a lot better with a lot less issues than Tucson. Tucson is a beautiful area, but the amount of stupid shit people do down there is outrageous. The last time I was there we almost got shot at because a dumbass wouldn't remove his jersey per the bar's rules and went to get his car and start a drive by. The cops showed up about 10 seconds before right as he pulled his gun out. I can say I've never ever had that happen to me here... lmao.

Portland (OR I presume) is a nice place though, I can't stand the weather there... also the hippies are everywhere. No... hippies... ahhhh!!!!

Hahahaha that sounds about right for Tucson. Ridiculous.

I always thought it'd be funny to have a picture of an AR15 on a tee shirt with "run hippie, run" above it. Not sure if i heard the idea on this forum or at work, but I'd like to get them made.
