2nd Post on this site...I would be very interested in any sort of class...I have been shooting for a few years now but have yet to ever taken a formal class. I would vote for Rio Salado myself.

In an effort to make this as cost effective as possible, I know a place in Casa Grande that is a full blown shooting range and doesn't cost a dime. It first come first serve and no range master, so we could set you up as our range master in charge of the shoot. Plus it has tables, Ramadas, pistol and rifle bays and free shoot areas. The only draw back is, it's in Casa Grand, but did I mention it was free and it's a range?

I do not consider myself a beginner but I am far from skilled.
Never had a class that I did not learn things.
Pratice is what makes you better!!!!!

Sounds great set up a day and time and I will attend.

I don't know if it's free...plus isn't there a range master for Ben Avery, since it's a AZ game and fish run facility?

I don't know that much about it to tell the truth, if it's like the one in Casa Grande it would work just as well.

Wow this sounds like a great option. A little out of the way, but it could work great for our purposes. We could have the class first for those who want to attend, then head over to the range and meetup with people who aren't interested in the class part. A quick safety refresher at the range, and we can start shooting.

Is there people who are interested in this but don't have guns themselves? In which case we can create a list of some pistols that people are willing to let others shoot, so that beginners can know what ammo to purchase and bring. I will provide the following pistols for people who wish to try them out:

    Glock 22 (.40 cal)
    Glock 27 (.40 cal)
    XDm40 (.40 cal)
    Taurus snubnose revolver (.38 special)

If you just want to take a few shots with a different gun, I'll have ammo with me, but if you are coming without guns and want to borrow one or more to shoot with for the time on the range, please bring some with.

    List of items bring:

*Ammo - for your own guns obviously, or if you plan on borrowing someone's for the session

*Targets - I recommend silhouettes, but any kind will work. Ask if you have questions.

*Ear protection - I have one extra pair of ears to loan

*Eye protection - I have extras

*Water - In AZ you need to keep hydrated ;)

    Thoughts?

I have a few pistols and rifles I don't mind people shooting, I just don't have the funds to spare ammo at this point in my life :) But I don't mind sharing if someone brings the ammo ;)

    Pistols
    Hk P2000 (.40 cal)
    Hk USP (.40 cal)
    Kimber 1911 (.45 ACP)
    Kahr CW9 (9mm)

    M4 semi-auto (.223 cal)
    1906 Mauser (.308 cal)
    Lever action (.22 cal)
    12 ga Shotgun [Pump]

I have a couple of PVC target stands that I made I can bring, just need to have some cardboard to hold up the targets and some tape would be good that way we don't have to switch out targets all the time.

I have 8 rifles and shotguns too, but I thought it would be a little much for someone new to learn rifles and shotguns at the same time as pistols. If anyone is interested in shooting a rifle I have:

Colt AR15 10.3" bbl with an Aimpoint (.223)
    AK47 (7.62)
    SKS (7.62)
    Ruger 10/22 (.22lr)
    Savage bolt gun (.17hmr)
Remington 870 shotgun 18" with collapsible stock (12ga)
Charles Daly semi auto 22" shotgun (12ga)

It didn't occur to me that we would need something to hold targets

I wonder how much work it would be to make a couple cheap wooden ones.

I am in to help out, heck I can still learn shooting fundamentals and characteristics interacting with other individuals. We all do become complacent. And I am not a shooter to take lives, I want to save them.

Lot easier to use the PVC and cheaper, I've looked.

I usually shoot cans or whatever though I do have some A-frame cardboard target holders for paper. I always pack out more than I pack in if in the desert.

That Casa Grande location the one that Pat Roger classes are held at?

If this becomes a regular get together I'd definitely be down for a future meet.
