Both my jeeps have Cobra 19 Ultra 3 CBs, great starter radios! And cheap to boot, only $35 at Walmart!

I'm going to switch to Ham at some point in the near-ish future. I'll still have my handheld CB's, but CB just doesn't do that well in the granite around here.

I use ham. I personally think it's more fun and more reliable. I have a handheld for when I'm riding dirtbikes and doing other stuff. And I'm putting in a 70w deck in my truck. For starting off, a handheld with a 5db gain antenna on the truck works great.

Anyone have any good links on how to tune CB's? I haven't really looked into it much but I know mine isn't tuned at all.

^^ Go to Radio Shack and get an swr meter.

I have Walkabouts, CB and HAM, and tap into repeaters throughout AZ. The CB is mainly for an external speaker and to have comm's with guys who don't have ham. Ham is where it's at!

Already have a SWR meter. I got all my stuff off of YumaTRD and just haven't looked up how to tune it all. I found a few general sites, just having found time to read everything yet.

Ah! Gotcha. I went to YouTube, and they're all the same. Forget which one I used, though. Good luck!

If you're OK with 2 meter only the Yaesu FT2900 is one hell of a value for a 75 watt mobile unit. I really like the one I bought from HRO for something like $120 after rebate.
