SMITTY BUILT XRC-9.5K Winch Synthetic Rope Gen2, With Aluminum Fairlead

Sorry not sure if this is in the right area but was really hoping someone might have a good review of this winch. Looking into custom fabricating myself a hybrid front bumper that I'm trying to keep as light as possible. Hence, why I'm looking at this winch, only 48lbs. So if I can keep the weight of my bumper down to around 70lbs which would be a combined weight of only 118lbs. Lighter than many aftermarket bumpers on the market. It would be easier on the suspension and on the frame mounting point when I'm doing some higher speed playing in the desert, yet, wanting something that is strong enough to get me out of sticky situations when I'm in the mountains with my Jeep buddies.

It's also relatively inexpensive.

Would be going on a 2010 double cab 4x4

I have it and have done a few short test pulls with it an it works just fine. The only thing I wish it came with is a solenoid to be able to shut it off from the battery. I have been looking at aftermarket battery disconnects as a safety. Outside of that I have only had it for a month maybe 2 and it has worked when I wanted it to.

Does leaving it connected cause a constant draw on the battery or is there another reason for the disconect?

Check out the US Offroad group buy that is up right now. His winch mount bumper only weights 68lbs and I have it mounted up with a Smittybilt x20 10k winch with syntetic. Haven't noticed a change in driving at all since having the extra weight up front. Love having it.

Looks like that could be a good option but not seeing anything for a 2010 tacoma like mine at US Offroad.

I have the same setup as Luke01 on my 2012. Winch has worked well the couple times I've used it but it's a pretty new setup so it hasn't seen too much action. They have a bumper for 2005-2011 too.

I put my winch on a 200A blue sea circuit breaker so I can switch that off under the hood if I wanted too.
