If your wiring is stuffed behind the headunit it may be preventing it from sitting back far enough to catch.

I THINK it's in as far as it would go back regardless of wiring. However I'll definitely check again tomorrow.

    1. My Metra clips in nice and tight everywhere except the top and I hear it click but it sticks up a lil... only I notice this.

    2. The Hazzard button is too tight on the left and I cant turn it off once its on without pulling the faceplate off. Anyone else have that issue and solve it?

I think there is clips on the factory one too. Maybe you could try and switch them out?

You can see where the clips are suppose to go into. Make sure it is lined up perfect. Hope this helps. Nice choice with the Kenwood deck btw.:D

Same issues and I've seen pics of others with it too. For the Hazard light. Try taking the deck off and re-screwing the screws in, lining it up a smidge more the right.

So I tried swapping the clips, and even putting the trim piece in place without the headunit even in, still doesn't go in. So there's definitely something wrong with this one. It's as if the tabs aren't long enough.

Compare it to the stock kit and see if they are shorter?

After comparing it to the stock headunit my suspicions were correct, they're not even remotely long enough.

Just got off the phone with Crutchfield, guy seemed pretty baffled by why there is such a difference.. Had me email him a few pics along with measurements to compare with another kit they have at the warehouse and to check with Metra to see what the issue is. So we'll see.

Thanks. Crutchfield is supposed to get back to me today sometime. Definitely looks like ass having the trim sticking out of place haha.

The one I got from Crutchfield matched the stock fasteners so I didn't have an issue. You got a weird one my friend.

I had a Metra single din kit that had the same short fastners, and the top wouldn't stay snapped in at all.

Got a Schoshe (sp?), and it had same length fastners as the factory radio. Snapped in just like the factory and won't budge. All is right with the world now.

An update on this, the Crutchfield guy I was speaking with said Metra told him the clips on the top should have been longer ones than the ones for the bottom and that if all for white clips they gave me were the same I got the wrong ones. They're sending me long ones, although I'm very skeptical that they will actually fit. But I'll hold off on ordering something new til these arrive and I can try them.

If it still doesn't work I'm just going to get the Schoshe one.

I am glad I found this thread. i just did my install today and the dash kit from Crutchfield will not snap in on the top also. I will call them in the AM.

Sucks that it's happened to you too, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. Obviously this Metra kit is flawed. Perhaps you may want to speak with Cris since he's who I dealt with. Maybe with enough complaints they're realize they've got an actual issue with the Metra kit and not just a "they must have packaged the wrong clips with it."

Sure enough the clips they sent were the same as the others. So I'm still stuck with a half ass fitting dash kit. See what else they come up with. It's obvious the tabs that stick out that the clips go on aren't remotely long enough which is what I told them before.
