6.5 inch subwoofer vs 8 inch

Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever heard a 6.5 inch jl w3v3 subwoofer or any 6.5 subwoofer for that matter. I was going to.get an 8 inch w3 but now am thinking about the smaller one due to space. No store in my town has any up to hear them. What are your opinions on each subwoofer? I listen to classical and jazz so which would anyone recommended?

an 8 inch sub would better suit your needs. kenwood excelon has a shallow mount sub that will fit in a tight space. i'm getting the 10 for my reg cab tacomaand space is very limited in them. the sub you buy depends on the box you are putting it in

A 6.5" sub will likely be less efficient than the 8" sub by nature of less cone area. However, I think if you don't listen extremely loud a 6.5" sub will be fine for your needs.

I assume you will be installing in the factory front door location?

If so, depending on your listening habits, how open you are to modifying the door, deadening, etc, a 6.5" may suit you fine. If installing behind the rear seat...well...dont think I would settle for anything under an 8"...and would suggest looking at 10's.

Love the HAT L-8's in my doors...wouldnt trade them for the world...but with any driver handling sub bass frequencies (or even fair midbass frequencies IMO) in a door location, be prepared to add alot of deadener... Even a 6.5" will create "issues" in a door without deadener.
