XM Sounds Awful in 2010 Tacoma

I recently traded in my 2008 Tacoma for a 2010 with built in XM. My 2008 had an aftermarket radio connected to Sirius. I was very excited to get the built in XM because I figured it would be near CD quality sound. Overall the JBL system in my 2010 beats the 08 hands down, but the XM sounds awful. It sounds like a tin can, over-compressed, and just overall horrible.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I crazy??? What can I do to fix this?

 

I just purchased a '11 that comes with built in XM and I'm less than impressed with the sound quality. The sound is very low compared to even the AM stations.

 

Agreed...AM sounds better. Toyota should do something, but I'm not sure what can be done since it seems to be a problem with XM.

 

It is - XM/Sirius compresses all of their audio to preserve bandwidth. For the truest sound you can get, you want to listen to HD Radio.

 

The bluelogic in my 2010 sounds crappy but I think it's more my phone than the bluelogic....I'm runnin' a casio brigade and the voice commands suck on that even if I'm not using the truck's bluetooth...I guess I should try mating up the wife's phone and see how that works...

 

I'm probably going to find a nice iPod adapter and go with that...pretty much done trying with xm.
