While browing the "IT FITS" speakers, i was curious why there were no 6x9s. Then I search for them and every 6x9 says it is a "NO FIT" for my DC Taco.

I know next to nothing about car audio, but what I have heard, is that it has something to do with the magnets being to large, and deep.

Yeah, Crutchfield is real conservative with what it says fits. I guess it cuts down on returns for fit issues. You'll be able to put most any 5.25, 6, 6.5, or 6x9 in the doors. You'll just need adapters for what ever speakers you choose. Pay particular attention to speaker depth so that the window will clear the magnet when rolled down.

Ok, thanks for the info guys. From what I read 3.25" is the top mount dept max.

5100's (front 1.75) all around, rear leaf TSB. Bestop supertop, OEM bed mat. Pioneer 3200 HU, Pioneer GM 9500f amp, Eclipse SC6900 Front, Rear Eclipse 5 1/4, Marv box with Arc 10 sub. Dampened all doors and back wall with BXTII and ensolite, Supertop, blacked out emblems, 2011 grille, bedmat
Yeah, so Crutchfield gave me the run around about the speakers too. They only have certain stock adapters so they are limited to what fits those. So, I called Mr. Marv. Mr. Marv is a great guy who has a very detailed knowledge of what fits and sounds great in tacomas. He knew exactly what I needed. You can fit just about any speaker you want as long as you have the right adapter. So, after speaking with Marv he recommended some speakers, I bought em, he made me the adapters. I got them a few days later and they just dropped right in. Perfect fit.

That sounds about right... the spreakers I chose, 6.5" comps w/3" top mount depth, had plenty of clearance. I used 3/4" spacers with them.

you need speaker rings/adapters/mounts (whatever you'd like to call them), in order to fit aftermarket speakers

My 2006 came with 6x9's in the front doors. I took the oem 6x9's off the adapter and reused it for the after market 6x9's. There is plenty off room.
