LOL, Santa Clarita is nothing to special...

Soundman has been in business (same location) for over 20 years.

Here is the video that got them the iPad install publicity. They made this video the same day the WiFi iPad went on sale.

OK. I am a major geek a HUGE apple fan but there us no freekin' way I'd put that rotating mount in my truck. It looks ridiculous!!

You could end up being the big joke of the neighborhood!

    Good luck.
    Cheers.

Sweet! It would be awesome when it's done. Keep us updated once you get it back. I'm in the middle of doing it my self but it's taking a long time fabricating the drop in slot. I already have an iPad so I figured the "Wrong" way was the cheapest route to upgrade my sound system. ;)

Btw I'm tethering my wifi iPad to my phone and it works great. Why pay for 3G twice eh?

Fist off I'm not putting that ugly mount in my car, your looking at the wrong one. Also, the audition bit one is 800$ and then I'm spending another 200 or so on parts, the 2000 is a rough estimate (and a highball too) then after that I pay for fabrication and install. So it actually is not that bad.

But how do you tether the iPad to the phone when it's in the dash, Bluetooth?

You can jailbreak the iPhone and use a app called MyWi to turn your iPhone into a WiFi hot spot.

Thanks db67fm. Yeah, you can pretty much connect anything via wifi. The app even monitors bandwith usage. It's a little pricey but you can do a 3day trial before you buy.

The IOS4 software update has tethering without having to jailbreak.
I think it's a small fee from AT&T but I would rather pay a small fee than jailbreak.

To say that a DD dash kit has more functionality than a 3G iPad is absolutely rediculous.
What can you do on a dash kit that you cant do on an iPad?
Can you play games on a dash kit? Can you order music while you are driving right from iTunes and have it downloaded straight to the dash? Can you download an auto tune app and auto tune yourself singing in the car?
The iPad is way more functional, alot better looking, way more user friendly than any stupid ass dash kit there is available. And if he wants to spend the money and get an iPad in his truck, he can do that.
Just don't be hating when you see him playing Texas hold em poker sitting at a stop light.

Aahhhahahaha that made me laught...plain Texas Hold em at the light.

But I was wondering why ppl think a dash kit is more functional...I don't use CDs and haven't listened to fm radio since serous came out

I only listen to iPod, iTunes, or pandora, occasionally iHeart radio if I want to hear instant talk radio or a sports game.

    Oh yeah almost forgot.......IPAD FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
