I have a 2010 double cab and my "free" 90 day XM subscription is about to expire.
I have a current lifetime subscription to Sirius radio and used a "docking station" in my last vehicle. I would like to use the same little reciever so that I don't have to pay for another subscription. (I think its a Sportster 5)
My question is; Where do I mount the docking station in the tacoma? There doesn't seem to be an ideal mounting location...

Does anyone have a good location that they have mounted their reciever/control unit and then wired it through the stock JBL six disc stereo?
Any install tips or locations would be much appreciated. Pictures of your installed docking station would be very much appreciated.

P.S. Sorry if I don't have the name of the equipment right... I think it's called a docking station.

    Thanks very much, Brian.

I put mine on the dash next to the left A-pillar. I used the mounting bracket with some double sided 3m tape. within reach and i could run the wired down the door frame and under the dash into the HU. Ran the antenna wire under the door trims, double cab.

    Thanks everyone!

These are just the kind of ideas that I was hoping for! I like the idea of mounting it in that little cubby in front of the cup holders as I don't use that for anything and it looks great. I am going to look into that i think. I didn't want it mounted up on the dash because I don't want it to be a target and get my Tacoma broken into.

For those of you that have mounted it in this location, how difficult is it to unplug and take with you? Is there enough room to unplug it and plug it back in?

    Thanks, Brian.

    Sorry for the crappy pic.
I ran an outlet to my center consol and ran all the cables through the space under the cup holders. I ran the the sirius antenna through a port hole under the driver side dash, behind the clutch pedal. It is just sitting in the consol. Not attached to anything. I would get a sirius equiped head unit, but I use a company vehicle as much as i use my personal truck.

There is still room to remove it. I remove it almost daily when I get home to use the radio in my house.

The top of the compartment is angled up and out. Just mount the dock all the way to the back and the bottom.

I have a sportster in my cubby too...I have a terrible time removing mine, but I never have to take it out so I didn't consider that aspect when installing it. I would say before you disassemble everything, just hold the mount/dock/player where you think it will be and see if you can remove it. It's hard to tell how it will fit if you have everything taken apart already. Once you get it installed though, you'll love the location. I know I sure do. Also, the little rectangular spot to the right of the gear shifter is a perfect location for the sirius remote

I used the window suction cup mount, and set it low on the windshield so the bottom rests right on the dash, it's within easy arms reach and well out of my line of vision, but easy to pop off quick if I want. No pics, I'll see if I can get some here soon.

How did y'all route the antenna? I would like to use the factory shark fin antenna instead but I'm having difficulty finding a adapter cable to go from the shark fin cable that connects to the back of the radio to my Sirius mount.

The adapter is called SAF12M and there is a square plug adapter for it below the driver side dash. Search around here and I'm sure you'll find some pics
