front speakers

i have an 08 Sport

i need new front speakers, probably not the tweeters just the door speaker. what do you guys run, i have seen 6x9, 6x8, and 6 1/2.

 

The stock speaker is 6x9. I chose to go with 6 1/2" component. You will need to plan for mounting adapters.

 

6.5" components for me. How do you plan to crossover the factory tweet and an aftermarket mid? This idea does not sound well thought out.

 

6.5 are the best for sound quality

 

I recommend looking a Memphis speakers; they're reasonably priced, and if you're not going to run an amp at the moment, they'll still (probably) sound better than stock. If you add an amp in the future, they can handle it. (My recommendation is based upon personal experience with Memphis mids/tweets.)

 

Hes right, Memphis is the ............. Unless money isnt an object and your trying to getto out your TRUCK

 

[EDIT: By "confused" I mean, Memphis mids/tweets are inexpensive, and I don't know what you mean by "getto"/ghetto.]

 

I went with Pioneer 6"x9"'s up front, and 6.5" in the back.

Got my adapter plates from Mr. Marve.

Tell him what speakers you are using and he will make sure you get exactly what you need.

 

Just to add to the pool of knowledge:

I just dropped a pair of infinity reference 6X9 2-ways in the front. These have a sensitivity rating of 94db...quite a bit higher than many other speakers. They are VERY noticeably louder than the stock 6.5s in the back doors. That sensitivity rating is pretty important. Now I need to get the matching 6.5s for the rear doors!

Someone asked about mixing in with stock tweeters: In my VW, I put aftermarket speakers in the back seat along with the stock tweeters and split them using a pair of Inifinity crossovers. I think I got them on ebay or something. Works well.
