I currently have a set of db651s's in the rear doors of my 08 double cab. Never really been happy with the sound. The speakers are probably fine but they seem to be muted by how low they sit.

Has anyone installed components in their rear doors? Where did you install the tweeter? What's the largest speaker you've installed in the door?

    Pics please!

    Thanks!

You will never get the tweeter into a good position because you will always have them blocked by the seats themselves. Your only option is custom B pillar mounting. That will ruin your sound stage big time. I dont think its worth doing.

Thanks for the advice. What do you recommend? A better set of coax speakers?

I have just accepted the fact the front seat passengers listen to the fron components and the rear seat passengers listen to the rear coax and a little front component. I can hardly hear the rear speakers from the front seats. My 165CVX are very bright and clear from the rear, but the seats will block ANY tweeter not mounted high, so whats the use?

I have come to the conclusion our vehicles are almost as bad as you can get, acoustically speaking. Bad speaker locations, bad wind noise, limited sub mounting depth, thin resonant metal and plastic parts, etc. I have a high pass on my front components of 50Hz at the moment and 80Hz on the rear so I dont get as muddy of a midbass and lower midrange due to the rear speakers... I assume thats your problem... all midbass and no highs or clarity added from the rear.

Hey, if you can mount tweets up high on the B pillar and it does not makes all the highs sound like they are coing from behind you you may be onto something... I just fear that it wont solve your problem without creating an even bigger one.

Looks clean. What size woofer did you put in the door? How is the sound overall? Happy with the staging?
