ANOTHER ground question

I searched through several forums and am not sure I have heard anyone address or question the issue I am having.

I am getting a loud hum upon starting my truck that gradually fades within 30 seconds. The sound is louder the colder it is outside. The hum is only present with my door speakers and not my powered sub. The amp running all my door speakers has an 8 gauge power and ground wire.

The ground is connected under a rear seatbelt bolt. Paint taken down to bare metal. I spent the weekend trying different ground spots with zero luck.

Help!

 

Ground wire should be very short, if your rca cables are anywhere near your power wires than this is probably your problem. If your rca's are run with your power wires than it's definitely your problem.

 

Ground is about 1-2 feet from amp tops!

I did try sanding out a patch about 2" in diameter surrounding the ground spot. No luck. Where is your amp and ground spot?

 

I have 3 amps and they are all grounded directly to the frame, the way you have your amp grounded should be ok. I would look to make sure your rca's are not near a 12v power source, make sure you also use an adapter plug to hook up you deck to the factory wire harness. How old is your amp?

 

Thanks everyone. I don't remember where the 12v is wired in relation to the rca's. I am going to check that stat!

 

The amp is 3 years old and the problem has been there since the day I initially installed it.....yes, 3 years ago.

I am using an adapter plug for the wiring of the HU. I definitely need to check the wiring of the 12v and rca's.

A low hum that fades after the car is started? That doesn't sound like a ground problem at all. A ground problem will usually sound like a high pitched whine that increases with RPM and electricity use (AC, windows, headlights).

I'd say it's a problem with the amp. You stated it was there since you installed it 3 years ago. What amp is it?

 

And why after 3 years are you just now figuring it out lol?

 

Are you using a LOC with the stock headunit?
