i am just replacing my speakers with type R's with the SPR-17S which would be 4 tweeters, 4 speakers and 4 crossover. my question is should i rewire everything with better quality cables or will it not make a difference?

i'm still deciding on a head unit but most likely the ALPINE INA-W900BT with the HD module added and the KTP-445 to get perfect sound.

i'm new at changing anything to do with audio, so would this be hard to install by myself or would i be better off getting it installed professionally.

If you're just doing speakers and no amps then keep the original wires. Heads up though, the speakers will probably sound worse than the factory speakers until you get a new head unit.

yea i figured that, the head unit will have to wait a bit so i can save up for something worthy.

do you know if i need a spacer for those speakers, i'm trying to figure it out but i don't get it at all.

No, the spacers it comes with are deep enough. They worked on my 17refs and they're a tiny bit deeper than yours.

The correct mounts were in my boxes but the website doesn't say it is included for yours so i'd do some research first.

actually it includes one spacer kit
    Easy Installation

Installation is made fast and easy with a shallower mounting depth, and basket design. A 6"x8" mounting adapter plate is also included for fitment, so this solution is versatile to fit in many vehicles (Only Available on SPR-17S and SPR-13S). Choose from multiple models of both components and coaxials to fit the needs of your car

thanks for the info very helpful. If it says 6x8 doesnt that mean it'll be too small seeing as tacoma double cab is all 6x9?

All I can say is that they fit on all 4 of my doors and they sent me the 6x8 also.

i looked around and have found a few decent head units but the most annoying thing is that all i want is a double din with bluetooth built in and HD radio built in as well or as a module. so far i've found only these.

    Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD for under $500
needs Bluetooth and HD radio module. No navi

    JVC KW-AVX830 for $414.80
built in bluetooth, navi and would need a HD radio module

Alpine INA-W900BT for $765.00 (this one is what i'm aiming for)
it has bluetooth and navigation but i'd need to get something for HD radio
