Woofers hitting the back seat when stereo is up. "Help"

I just had a complete custom stereo system installed in my 2010 Tacoma double cab. All high end Polk audio mids and highs. 2 JL XD amps and Alpine Head unit. The subs are 2 JL 10" in the standard double cab box with amp rack between the subs. It sounds great but when you turn up to high the subs rattle off the platic on the back of the seats. Does anyone know a way to fix this. Also let me claify when turning it I do not mean distorting it. I am just not able to get the full potential out of the amp and subs. I appreciate any good ideas.

Remove the latch from your rear seat backs and move it to the second hole set. That will give you an extra inch of clearance.

I just cut a section of the plastic out where the woofer was hitting

 

That doesn't sound very Macgyver-ish.....

 

I left out the part where I used the piece of plastic I removed to build a grenade launcher. I didn't feel like it was relevant to the post.

 

I took off the black plastic off the back of the seats and the clearance is fine now. I was able to turn up the amp and now I can use the full potential of the amps and subs. Thank you to those people that provided me with information.

 

you should still move the latch back to get some air space.

What latch are you referring to? I'm looking behind the seats and I don't see a latch. I have the same problem.

Take off the plastic screwed to the back of the seat and look at the latch that clicks the seat in. You'll see a few hole there.

 

i have wet okoles, i just toiok the plastic off
worked great
